congrats on the new job 24k!

just a thought - if JC's class that he shouldn't miss is near the beginning of the week, you could go to Hawaii during the last half of the 1st week & the first half of the 2nd week. split the difference!

OOOOooooooo 24K, go alone girl.........go alone!!! Well, we can dream, can't we?

Congrats on the job, sounds like it's going to be a winner. The casual thing would have done it for me too!

Good luck with the boss, I've always had a hard time giving notice too. Guess that's why I stay so long at my jobs.

Now make sure you have a great CD player and speakers in your car, and stock up on your favorite music or books on tape, and the drive will seem like pleasurable "me time".

Good things happened yesterday!

(1) My boss asked me to wait until Friday to decide for sure about the job. Oh, and she commented about how much weight I've lost!

(2) My best girlfriend, who is the one who got me started on Medifast (she's lost nearly 100 pounds in six months!) called to say she's been accepted into a PhD program at a university in San Diego (we've been sweating this one out for months; 22 applicants for 6 positions), and it's "fully funded." We're going shopping to celebrate!

(3) I bought a pair of 16W jeans on ebay. They won't fit quite yet, but they will soon, and I never would have dared to buy anything in that size before, figuring it would be just a waste of money.

That is some terrific news, on all counts! Could the day have gotten any better? You're gettin' skinny, your best friend is gettin' skinny, and both of you are rolling in career successes.... How wonderful!

24K - I've been following your career journey on bated breath! I am so excited that you have 2 firms apparently fighting for your presence! How many people out there would LOVE to be in your situation!

I agree, GO TO HAWAII! Bring the kids or don't but if you have the time and the means - just do it! My hubby and I travel A LOT and feel so great doing it. There is nothing I'd rather spend my money on than getting away from the grind with my family!

Let us know what your current boss says. Why did she want you to wait until Fri???

Robinsons-May has a major, major sale going on right now, and I went there this morning. I came home with TWO cashmere sweaters, a suede skirt, a pair of tailored pants, and three other tops, AND a leather jacket -- soft, supple real leather. Get this, with the sale and the "thank you days" discount, I paid less than $170 TOTAL for these items. The original sales prices on the tags added up to nearly $900! The leather jacket alone was originally $268, and I got it for just under $40. It's an XL, and it's a bit tight, but not for long. I should be able to wear it for quite awhile, I think, and then my friend who went shopping with me has already claimed "dibs" on it for when it's way too big for me.

Best of all, instead of size 3X these things are either L or XL, and the skirt and pants are 18W. A quick trip into Lane Bryant and I also scored an 18W bootcut pair of jeans and a black pair of pants for work in 16W.

I was sort of running out of things to wear to work. I have sorted through the closet and thrown out a bunch of stuff that was no longer usable, and taken bags to the church thrift store. I have two more large shopping bags filled to overflowing with stuff for the thrift store, and I have a couple of large boxes of clothes that I'm packing away right now and will give away in a year. Then there's a few good things that I'm going to try to sell on ebay, I think, especially a lovely brown suede jacket that's only a year and a half old.

Oh, this is fun!!
