Nice job, 24K, you came out with some really swank stuff for a steal!!

I'm looking forward to cleaning out my closet too... and of course filling it back up again!

Woke up this morning to another 2 pound loss. Whee! Those 12W jeans are on my top shelf of my closet right now, but maybe in 2 more weeks? (Soon you too will get them! And right on down the line...)

Sure beats buying BIGGER clothes in our past times of need! Hehehehe!

You did great 24K! I'm quite a shopper myself and the deals you were able to get put me to shame. It's a good thing too b/c you will be surprised how quickly you'll shrink out of those clothes.

I had a gorgeous 3/4 length black leather jacket in size L that was too small when I started. I figured I would be able to wear it when I finished since leather tends to run small anyway. No dice - it was HUGE - linebacker shoulders. I was bummed and kept trying it on to see if someone would say it didn't look bad. No such luck - had to give it away.

So it's a very good thing you got such good deals since I'm guessing your friend will be inheriting your jacket very soon! Isn't it great??

Update time: At the end of the day, I retracted my acceptance of the new job. My current boss managed to swing a bonus for me (payable today!), and the Company has re-signed the lease, for three years, suggesting that they aren't planning on laying us off (as they just did for the people in a related department upstairs; their last day was last Friday). I decided that the triple commute and the 240 extra hours a year were not worth it, in the long run, and plus I had not taken into account the very generous pension AND 401(k) match I currently get. So j'y suis, j'y reste, it seems. Unless something better comes along, of course.

It was a long, hard, difficult decision, but I feel very good about it. And I thank all of you for your support, encouragement, and input during the process.

Now, on to other news: I just booked four nights in Hawai'i for myself and my eldest son! We leave on April 12 and return on April 16. That is his Spring Break. He's a geology/paleontology student, but he loves volcanos, so we're going to go spend part of the time at a resort and part of the time at the volcano on the Big Island.

I need a new swimsuit; the two I have are at least three sizes too big for me. (No, I am NOT complaining!) And I will need a few other things as well for that trip, since my closet is rather bare at the moment particularly of things suitable for that climate. I really hope that leather jacket I bought a couple of weeks ago will fit just right by then -- I have about three weeks, so if I stay compliant it really should. It's almost there now.

I worry that I will not be completely compliant on that trip, but I will take my Medifast and make a good effort. And where I am not compliant, I will try to make wise choices, and stay away from carbs.

I expect to be doing some more physical activity than usual -- snorkeling, kayaking, and hiking around the Volcano National Park. Nancy, what advice do you have for any increased calorie intake to support that? Would a day with a four hour hike be the sort of day that I could, for example, have an extra bar, while on the hike?

I am SO looking forward to this!

I will leave your substantive MF questions to the experts, but wanted to say congrats on getting the love from your company! It sounds like you are happy with your decision and have great reasons for making it-- so I think it's terrific! And now you have a nice big bonus with which to buy lots of cool Hawai'i clothes!

Are you staying on the Big Island for all 4 nights? My husband and I honeymooned there in October (one week on Lana'i and the other on Hawai'i), and loved it. How can you go wrong in paradise, right? We thought the Volcano Nat'l Park was cool-- very moonlike with freaky terrain-- I think your son will really enjoy it. What fun!!! You definitely deserve such a great trip; you've worked hard on wiggling into that leather jacket (which WILL fit perfectly, if not loosely, by the time you leave for HI), and I'm living proof that a few days of non-compliance doesn't spell disaster. You can join me in the Post-Mini-Vacation MF Restart Club! Just make sure you take a few days beforehand to eat a bit more lean/green so you don't ruin your trip with the runs... ;)

Yeah 24k...I think it all worked out for the best. I have always lived by the thought that if a decision is REALLY hard to make, then the decision is made for me - don't do it! Sometimes I think there is a nagging voice inside my head for a good reason! Now that's not to say all decisions are easy...but I hope you get my drift!

Great news on the trip to Hawaii! I've not been there (feel like I've been everywhere else!) but I do plan to go. I know you'll love it as what is not to love about warm weather, sand, tans, relaxing......ahhh...

Anyway, congrats and have a great shakin' Easter!

A - lo - ha, 24 K ~

Oh, I am so jealous! What a lovely time you and your son will have on your trip to paradise!

Yes, you will need to prepare for your trip in advance with some lean and green meals otherwise you may have gastric distress...BR time on an airplane is limited and it would not be good to have a blowout if you're sitting in seat 15A...

Yes, you'll need extra fuel stops especially if you kayak and hike. A two-bar hike with a liter of Dasani is better for your meal plan than having a honkin’ Cuban sandwich, ‘taterchips, a handful of MacNut cookies and a Croak-a-cola any day!

Chilled Robust Tomato Fast Soup with a lemon squeeze or lime slice, a shot of Tabasco and a celery stick makes a refreshing Virgin Mary and also gives your legs a shot of potassium to prevent leg cramps.

We took RTDs for on the plane and the beach. You can freeze them and then they are perfect for tucking in a beach bag wrapped in your towel.

With fond aloha,

Shirl, the original Aloha Girl ~

An RTD is a Ready To Drink - Medifast 55 already mixed up, nice and creamy in a teensy little 'juice-type box' (like kids have for their school lunches or a snack drink) and it has a little plastic wrapped sippy straw attached to the drink box.

They come in two flaves only: Dutch Chocolate or French Vanilla and sell for $2.49 EACH or they come 27 individual drink boxes to a case. Any product purchased by the case gets a 10% discount. A case of RTDs sells for $60.51.

They are also available in the line of products designed for adolescents called “Fit!” The Fit! RTDs are available in the Dutch Chocolate flavor only and sell for the same price. It is virtually the same formula as the regular 55 RTDs – it just comes in a box with a couple of kids on the front - it is not a "mediciney-looking" picture like the Medical logo on the regular 55 RTD box.

RTDs are perfect for tossing in your purse or bookbag as they do not need refrigeration. We always keep some in the car for emergency feeding frenzies, in our desk drawer at the office and we especially love ‘em when traveling on an airplane or the commuter train.

24K.......I've been so busy, haven't kept track of you and your job. I'm glad you have gotten through the decision making process and are happy with the final result :)
I had to laugh when you said your son is a geology major.....I work for a geologist. It's an interesting field for sure. I'm the office manager, but I do quite a bit of work in the lab when we are really busy, because our engineers and techs wind up out in the field. I have no idea what any of the number mean  , so I just run the tests and let them do the analysis.
Have a wonderful time in Hawaii. I've never been there but am sure looking forward to being able to do something like that when I finally get done with school and have time (and money).

Yes, we're spending all four nights on the Big Island, two at a resort there and two up at the Volcano. We'll arrive just before 1 p.m. on Tuesday, and leave a bit after 2 on Saturday, so we'll have some portions of both of those days available to play, too.

Son and I both went and bought new hiking boots on Friday night (old ones long dead), and so we're working on getting them broken in now. He loves volcanos, and can't wait to go hiking all around the national park there. He's also trying to see if one of his college professors can give him a contact at the Volcano Observatory there (not open to the public) so that we can go up there.

for you the flight is a piece of cake...(sorry No cake)...for us on the East Coast it was 13 hrs...but not bad.........enjoy every moment...
It was 13 hours for me to get to Scotland last May from here, so I suppose it all evens out somewhere along the way. ;) It is only five and a half hours from here to Hawaii, though.

Yes, you will need to prepare for your trip in advance with some lean and green meals otherwise you may have gastric distress...
Now if I'm already doing lean and green, what else should I do? I have to admit that I'd like to have some of the tropical fruit when I'm there, even though yes, I understand that it means that I will have to re-do the start-up to get back into ketosis when I come home. I just remember Hawai'i as having the very best papaya I've ever tasted in my life, and I will feel deprived and resentful if I don't sample at least a small amount of it.

We took RTDs for on the plane and the beach. You can freeze them and then they are perfect for tucking in a beach bag wrapped in your towel.
Hmm. I ordered a single sample DC RTD with my order that probably got shipped today, to try it out. If I like it, perhaps I'll do an extra order right away so that I have a stash to take with me. I like that idea.

Congratulation 24 if you end up on the island of Ohau let me know Would love to hook up I live on this island on the north shore.
Oh, I'm sorry but I'm only going to be on the Big Island this trip. Thanks for the thought, though. I've visited the north shore, and have very fond memories of it.

Totally off topic, but. . . the Pope is dying.

This man has been Pope for all of my adult life, and while I have not always agreed with him, I have the highest respect for him as a good and holy man who has sincerely tried to do his best. I weep for what we as a world are losing, but I am sure that for him it will now be peace.

The Catholic prayer for the dying:

"Go forth, Christian soul, from this world
in the name of God the almighty Father, who created you,
in the name of Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, who suffered for you,
in the name of the Holy Spirit, who was poured out upon you,
May you live in peace this day,
may your home be with God in Zion,
with Mary, the virgin Mother of God,
with Joseph and all the angels and saints

Eternal rest give unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen."
