Starting Over

Postby kdluster » February 11th, 2004, 12:51 pm

Howdy! Well, not a good start for me :( Just half way thru day one, I had to stop for some unexpected medical tests. The good news is my doctor is on board and I get to start again tomorrow! :D I ordered a copy of "Success in a Shaker Jar" and can't wait for it to arrive. Have a great day!

Glad to hear all's well KD,
I'm just curious. What did your Doc tell you to eat, rather than staying on the program?

Unca - sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. I had to do a full fast (no food, no shakes no nothin') for a diabetes test...which is NEGATIVE!

Great News

Postby Maisie » February 16th, 2004, 8:17 am

That's great news about your test KD. Have you read the Johns Hopkins study results about Medifast and Type II Diabetes. You have in your very hands the tools that will keep you from ever having to get Diabetes.
I'm lucky I don't have it as well, although my grandmother did. Hers was the Type II and people just didn't understand the role of diet and exercise back then.

Keep Going,

Thanks Maisie! I have not read the study, do you know where I can find it? You don't happen to live in Virginia do you?

Study

Dear KD:

All you have to do is type in Johns Hopkins and Medifast into your search engine and you will get a lot of hits. Some of them are from Dec 2003, Jan 2004. They did a two year study and Medifast came out with glowing colors for the diabetes patients who lost more weight than the folks on the American Diabetes diet and many were able to go off meds, etc.

That's why they call Diabetes II a lifestyle disease. It's often totally preventable, but once you get it you can only manage it. What is really sad are the numbers of children who already have it because of our fast food-sedentary world. For the most part, you only see this in this country. I think it's great that Medifast is addressing this with their FIT products for children. I live in NC.
