Mike ~ Just curious. Everyone else said to watch them by release dates. What's your opinion as to why I should watch them 1-6?

Mike is trying to lead you astray! If you've never seen them before, watch them by release date. Otherwise, there are in-jokes in episodes I-III that won't make sense. Also, viusally you'll get a real jolt going from Epsisode III to Episode IV - you'll think the universe just got knocked back to 1978. Oh wait, that's exactly what happened. ;) But the biggest reason to watch them by order of release date, in my never-to-be-humble opinion, is that the end of Episode III packs a much bigger emotional punch if you know what happens at the end of Episodes V and VI.

Fun fun fun! Back in high school, my best friend and I tried watching all three original movies (on video, back before any special edition anything!) in one night. Di should remember this one. We only made it to the end of Empire Strikes Back, by which time we were getting pretty darn punchy. We were making up skits wherein Darth Vader was grounding Luke for getting snitty. Of course, we thought it was comic genius, but when we tried to demonstrate that genius to our friends at school, they just thought we were weird.

Okay, I give. I will use the force and return to the correct way of thinking. Its 4-6, then 1-3... but I still think 2 is the weakest one.

Watched episode IV and V, yesterday and just wanted to share a line from the movie that I thought was pretty profound (at least for me). During the Empire Strikes Back, Luke Skywalker was training to become a Jedi and he was attempting a very difficult task. Yoda told him to do something and he said that he would try. Yoda said, "No, either do or do not ~ There is no try".

For me, that relates to MF in the way that it's really a mental challenge. Get your mind in the Just Do It mode and success is ours!!!

I was a drum major in the high school marching band, and took private lessons with a coach who used to quote Yoda to me all the time. That particular line was his favorite. :D

My favorite was The Empire Strikes Back.

i recommend IV, V , VI and then DO NOT watch I, II, III....

i don't know what Lucas was on when he made the "last" three, but they are the worst pieces of crap.

i've always been all about the OT and not the PT. the PT is filled w/ bad acting, crap directing, terrible dialog. granted, the OT have a lot of bad stuff but it's really more a nostalgia thing. ah... who am i kidding... the OT is WHERE IT'S AT!

refrain from watching Ep 1 if at all possible. Ep 2 is good if you fast forward through the lovey crap. Ep 3 was a visual nightmare. WAY too much CGI. i felt like Lucas let me down hard.... and i'm a Star Wars collector. :(

OH!!!

i forgot to say

try to find the UNTOUCHED copies of eps IV, V , VI. Lucas went back in and played around with it so much... ugh... he even dishonoured one of the actors by replacing him w/ Haden (sp). wow i'm annoyed...

*writes angry letters to Lucas*

RIP the old days. *sigh*

I finally finished the original trilogy and really liked them. Episode IV was probably the best, but I really liked the way everything wrapped up so neatly in VI.

Regarding I, II, and III ~ Does anybody else agree with Karakuri? Am I wasting my time by viewing these? Do they explain how Vader stepped over to the dark side?

uhmmm, i hate to say it, because i am a huge (ha ha) sw fan...

but 1, 2, and 3 do pretty much suck.

the only reason i can see for watching them is that lucas had always planned the series this way; the backstory in his head is what he molded these 3 episodes from. does this redeem their utter crapitude? nah.

episode 3 has some of the worst dialogue this side of a 50's kung-fu movie. that may be worth watching them for depending on your camp-factor.

epsode 1 will make you want to neer have kids; the whining is just awful.

episode 2 is probably the least painful. yoda gets down with his bad self in 3 minutes of cgi bliss.
