On Larry King last night she said it was "that" [gastric bypass surgery]. LK asked her why she didn't just come out and say it and she said, "I have always said it was medical intervention and what else could that mean?" To tell you the truth, she never came right out and saifd it, she jsut kept saying. "How else would I have lost all this weight of course it was that"

I watched that show also and she did say those things. Personally, I concurred a long time ago that this is how she lost the weight and I don't have a problem with it. Just b/c she wouldn't specifically state the methodology, everyone ran with the "she's trying to make us believe that she did pilates" crap. To each his own.

Just like us, here on the forum, it doesn't have to be anyone's business how we are losing our weight, unless we choose to tell them that it is Medifast. Star didn't lie, per say, she said she had "medical intervention", leaving it to the media and the public, to the inquisitive and curious, to come up with their own conclusions. And, unless, we hear the exact method of Star's weightloss, out of her own mouth, we can only continue to guess. However, on Larry King, she certainly gave plenty of hints! ;)

my only problem with starr jones is that she began marketing herself as a weight loss/relationship guru after losing the weight. i would have had no problem with her saying, "i used the bypass as a tool, and this is what i did to help myself with exercise and healthy eating." but she clearly deceived people who bought her book or followed her plan expecting the same results without the benefit of having their stomachs sectioned off and their intestines shortened and re-routed. when you can only eat an ounce at a time-- and you only absorb 60% of those calories-- it's pretty freakin' hard to not lose weight. you cannot then imply to people that they could have the same transformation through pilates and low-carbing.

i think this is the issue rosie o'donnell responded to in her critique of starr.

I don't think she deceived anyone that bought her book. She came out and stated that she sought the advice of a physician and needed medical intervention. One must be an idiot to concur portion control and pilates from that statement. I think she just didn't want to be the poster child for surgery.

I agree...

I met her in person when I bought her book and she cleary states that she doesn't want to be an advocate for any particular weight loss method because each person is different. At her status, if she stated exactly what she did, people everywhere would try it.

SHe also states that it wouldn't be fair for her to say anyone can do what she did because she hired a personal trainer and a persoanl chef. She realizes that not everyone can afford to follow her exact methods.

She's not hidden anything, just kept it to herself

Too bad she didnt do medifast and give it a public name like Kirstie did for Jenny Craig. What a marketing tool that could have been for MF. I personally dont care how she did it, happy for her that she did what worked for her. I think she looks a bit too thin now, IMO. Her head looks big because he body is so small.

That's what I think, too. Her head is too big for her...mouth is kinda large, too. I don't carea bout any of that, I jsut can't tolerate her and when she speaks I want to run. My dad (he's a cop) worked with her when she was a Brooklyn DA. He has no good things to say about her.

Personally....I think America just kinda wants to hate her no matter what she says.....I know I do....I think it's the way she talks down her nose to everyone....fatty or non-fatty, bypass or pilates, well, she's still gonna be a big ole *witch*

Maybe, but I think the best marketing MF could possibly have is word of mouth from everyday people for whom the program delivers real results. I decided to start MF based in large part on the experiences of the people on this forum. I think we will be walking billboards! :D

As for the big head, I always think of that as Oprah syndrome. When she got really thin way back when, she had the same problem: tiny body, giant head.
