Food journal update: Though I accidently skipped 2 days, I backtracked and completed my journal. So, I've kept my journal every day since August 12. Can't say it's a habit, yet, but I'm gonna get there. I think since we're leaving on vacation, I will need to write it all down this week to post when I return......just so that I don't lose my momentum.

Well, we're off tomorrow for a week of beach and fun with the family. We like to take a week at the end of summer to kind of extend summer and have something to look forward to all summer long.

We have rented a beach house in Duck, NC.....the outer banks. It's lovely there this time of year and not crowded because kids are back in school.

Of course, while getting packed, I've been reflecting on our trip there last year. So much has changed since then. (Imagine beached whale here) I couldn't even walk on the beach because I just sunk too much in the sand. I only spent a few hours at the beach at all. It was just too frustrating to get myself there even though our house is beach front with a walkway! I spent alot of time in the house.

This year will be so different. I'm so looking forward to long walks on the beach. We're taking our bikes, too!

Hubby's been saying all week-----"I need to get out of this place. I need a vacation....ugh". Well, here we go honey. :D

Jo, hope you have a wonderful vacation. It sounds so nice. Enjoy your new thin and trim body on that beach too. How exciting...I can't wait until next summer to experience the same thing!

Have fun...Duck is great...normally we go a little farther north to Corolla.

I am sure that you will have a great time! I am jonesin' for a steamer pot of spiced shrimp, mussels and crablegs from Steamers.

I will look for sarcasm upon your return

Well, just got back from the beach. The week went way too fast and with 2 days of ERNESTO!!!!!, we didn't get done with all the good stuff. Commence with the whiningggggggg. Not really. We just had so much fun! Even with the storm......a new experience for us, so it wasn't so bad. It was fun watching the surf on the bad days. Yeah, we did get a bit cooped up by day 2 of the rain, but spirits stayed high. We ended up having 4 good days before and one final day of sun, so we got to leave on a good note.

A few observations:

Watching my family pig out on ice cream is really easy when I have the memory of joining them last year and feeling so huge and crappy.....I mean, the ice cream didn't even taste good because all I could think about was my size. This year, I didn't even want it. I had my RTD's.....they're good for me and as good as any ice cream I've had.

Compliance is worth it........losing weight instead of gaining on vacation is soooo worth it.

Walks on the beach are so much better when you aren't trying to hide the rolls with sweats and t-shirts.

Crab legs and salmon are my new vacation treats. Who needs cheese cake?!?!?!

One week vacations are not long enough.

I'm spoiled.

Sounds like a great vacation. I'm getting ready to go on one in a few days, and I'll keep your words of wisdom in mind while I'm gone. Glad to hear Ernesto didn't dampen your spirits.

Laura, Yep, he is the sweetest! If you go to the bottom of page 5 of my journal you can see a picture of him and at the top of page 6 is a quilt that I made. It's a picture of him when he was a baby.......take note of the two front teeth. :D

Well, I'm going away again this weekend. This time it's only to our cabin. My sisters and I try to get together for a long weekend once or twice a year and this is it. I've been spending this week getting ready for that.

For dinner tonight I'll be treating them to one of my favorite L&G's.....Grilled salmon and grilled zucchini/tomato/peppers. Yum yummy! I'm not even adding a starch for them because I think it's a great meal all by itself.

I did go to the store last night and stock up on fruit and got a nice hearty loaf of bread for them. I also bought a microwave for the cabin because I just don't want to be without one. Sheez, they are cheap these days. It was only $43!

My sisters and I are best friends, but we have long lengths of time where we just don't communicate due to life getting in the way, so this weekend will be nice. We'll be able to catch up.

On Sunday, we've invited the rest of the family for a picnic. We coerced my husband into making barbeque, my mom is bringing mac salad, and my nephew is bringing the dessert.....not much for us to do, hehe. I might cut up some veggies, lol. My kind of party!

I'll try to have a picture taken to post here next week.

Have a good weekend everyone.
