The hunger will pretty much go away in a few days, once you're in ketosis. In the meantime, if you need to, have an extra supplement.

Also, you'll find that some of them are more filling than others. Oatmeal, for instance.

And I'm 5-foot-2, too, but I could never be a size 2. Or 114 pounds. You must be very small-framed!!

DogMa: I am pretty small framed and 114 works well for me. Thanks for the tip on the oatmeal. Boy do I have the hungry horrors right now. :x I'll be so glad once this first step in over and I start feeling less hungry.

I'm feeling strong though and I'm not going to cave that's for sure.

Dogma is right, give it 3 to 5 days, you will get past those cravings and thinking about food all the time. Keep busy, that's what works for me, still to this day. If I sit idle for to long I start to think about FOOD....:)
Keep those positive thoughts going!

Ditto the above. If you're starving, have a compliant snack (a dill pickle or 2, bouillon, if you got them a Fast Soup or MF crackers or Soy Crisps) or, like Dogma said, another supplement. At the end of Month 1, I realized I had been subsisting on 6 supplements PLUS a Lean&Green each day...still lost 18 lbs.

Also, since you're doing the complete fast, make sure you keep in close contact with your doctor.

I actually lose better on six supplements plus a lean and green. I added the extra supplement a few weeks ago and finally seem to be losing steadily. Go figure.

Hang in there. You'll feel better soon.

God bless you guys. Thanks for watching my thread and chiming in. You can't imagine how welcomed I feel here.

Here's a question: What is the average weight loss per month around here? Some of you guys have some unbelievable losses and I was wondering how long they took. Ya'll are so inspirational to me.

It's taken me 7 1/2 months so far. That's an average of 12 lbs/month. 2 1/2/week.

Some of us lose much more slowly, and apparently shorter people tend to lose more slowly, too. It's taken me 11 months to lose almost 60 pounds, but I couldn't lose at all on other weight-loss plans.

It's hard, but try not to compare your progress to others'; we've had people lose 5 or 6 pounds a week and still be disappointed.

As you may know I'm a veterinarian. Had a LOOOOONG day with multiple surgeries and this diet is giving me a headache. :x Why? I've taken a couple rounds of Excedrin but they are barely keeping it to a dull roar. Have any of you experienced a withdrawal like headache with this diet? Will it get better? Don't worry I'm not faultering at all just looking for some advice or at the least some empathy. Thanks guys.

I was lucky, I never got the headaches but I know some have and yes they do go away. I hear if you can make it through the first 3 days you will do fine. Just take it one day at a time, one meal at a time whatever works for you.

headaches

Postby SharonR » May 29th, 2006, 9:59 pm

Oh boy, I do get headaches, some days worse than others! Right now your body is detoxing so it's going to be hard. My advisor was in bed the first 2 or 3 days with them so bad, I'm sure she will post something to you.
She can tell you after the first 5 days she felt great. As for me, I have to eat something every 2 to 2.5 hours or I will get one. Are you eating that frequently?

Keep pushing through.....Sharon

Hi

Postby dede4wd » May 29th, 2006, 10:22 pm

Hey Doc,
I had headaches ALL through day 2 and they didn't go away until the end of day 3...when the leg cramps showed up! I was fine after day 4...but the first 3 days weren't easy...but WELL worth it!

Celery was my saving grace while I had the munchies before ketosis set in! Crunchy and filling, but mostly water!

As for my total loss, I just had my 3-month anniversary and my weight loss is averaging 17.5lbs a month. Don't compare yourself to others though...we DEFINITELY have turtles AND hares on this board. Just follow the program and it'll get better and you WILL lose!

If you're on the complete plan, MAKE sure you've seen your doc! He/she may want to add a supplement or tell you something they'd like you to do! Personally, I LOVE the portion sizes I'm learning from a daily Lean and Green meal, and I love being able to chew something each day, but that's me!

Ask us ANYTHING you need!
