Stupid Question of the Day

Postby Out*With*The*Old » November 7th, 2007, 7:51 pm

OK, so I have been wondering this for a while and I have finally decided to ask.....partly because I just KNOW I can't be the ONLY one.....and partly because it would make me feel better to know for sure :)

Does your belly make noises after your MediMeals??!!?? I mean, mine talks so loud about an hour after the meal that OTHER people can hear it and think I am hungry. I'm not hungry, I feel great. I know technically, an hour later, it is not my stomach but its that general area and it is L-O-U-D!

Please tell me I am not alone......and sheesh, I'd love to know why! I think its only been doing it for a week or so - certainly not the whole time I've been on program!

TIA!

So, this made me laugh a bit at the timing.

Yesterday, one of my nice little 6th grade kids was in my room at lunchtime and was working on her assignment near my table. I had just finished my bar and about 5 minutes later she asked me if I was hungry. I told her no, I had just finished eating, and asked her why she asked that. She said it was just that she heard my stomach growling and wanted to make sure that I had eaten my lunch.

So, Kym, yes... we do experience that. I guess I just am so used to it that I ignore it now. ;)

oh, kym, i guess we cant deny it, this stuff gives us gas!!! Not the kind you pass out of either end, just the kind that rumbles around in there for a while. it seems to happen to me mostly with the teas shakes arent AS bad. maybe the soy and whey proteins? It's funny but sometimes after it's been rumbling around in my stomach, i can feel it move into my intestines, i know TMI but since we are sharing... :D

Well I am glad I'm not the only one but I never would have thought it was gas - - and if I had I wouldn't have posted about it! :roflamo:

Thanks for helping me feel normal....well, in this area at least!

Mike - its sweet that a student was concerned you'd had lunch :)

There is a post somewhere on here from Nancy that explains this a little better. She suggested using antacids (sugar free of course) to settle the acid in the stomch which is what is making the noise

I'm not one for medicines unless absolutely medically necessary. So i will pass on the antacids. Yes, the rumbling can be loud and annoying at times but hey...but for me, being fat can be annoying too! So if i have to rumble a little to get the weight off, so be it. I'm sure my body will eventually adjust when it realizes that this is what i am going to put into it daily. Kym, i find that if i drink my meals a little slower, the rumbles are DRASTICALLY reduced. I guess it gives everything a little time to adjust.

Oh my gosh! I had so much intestinal distress when I was drinking nothing but Peach Tea! I'm SO much better now that I'm using a variety of supplements. (And, I probably will NEVER have another Peach Tea!)

My stomach rumbled the first few weeks too. It was odd because the first time on Medifast I had no issues. Nancy recommended Lactaid and that did the trick. I took it for a few weeks and then was trouble free.
