"Official" Medifast Song?

Postby BamaBabe » July 17th, 2006, 12:14 am

I'm SO sorry... I lost the origin of this thread!

But, I was going through my self-improvement ritual this evening, which includes a lot of motivational music...

I crossed paths with this song... it has certainly blazed a trail thru my heart, this first week on MF.... and surely, it would mean something to others that may come this way (?)... so, I really wanted to share...

----------------------------------------------------
Voice of Truth by Casting Crowns
----------------------------------------------------

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of faith it takes
To climb out of this boat I'm in
on to the crashing waves

To step out of my comfort zone
Into the realm of the unknown where Jesus is
And He's holding out His hand

But the waves are calling out my name
And they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
Time and time again. "Boy, you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"

Chorus:
But the Voice of Truth tells me a different story
The Voice of Truth says, "Do not be afraid!"
And the Voice of Truth says, "This is for My glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the Voice of Truth

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of strength it takes
to stand before a giant
With just a sling and a stone

Surrounded by the sound of a thousand warriors
Shaking in their armor
Wishing they'd have had the strength to stand

But the giant's calling out my name
And he laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The giant keeps on telling me
Time and time again. "Boy you'll never win!"

But the stone was just the right size
To put the giant on the ground
And the waves they don't seem so high
On top of them lookin' down
I soar with the wings of EAGLES
When I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
Singing over me

Chorus:
But the Voice of Truth tells me a different story
The Voice of Truth says, "Do not be afraid!"
And the Voice of Truth says, "This is for My glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me (calling out to me)
I will choose to listen and believe-

I will choose to listen and believe the Voice of Truth

I will listen and believe
I will listen and believe the Voice of truth
I will listen and believe
Cause Jesus you are the voice of truth
And I will listen to you, you are-

--------------------------------

Now, maybe the Jesus bits wouldn't universally apply, but The Voice of Truth stuff? For me, that's all about MF...
Just tossing it out there for the count. We climb an uphill battle here on all fronts... a good "theme song" should include acknowledgement of our victory against our own mis-guidance?

I humbly (& reservedly) understand all major religions to originate from texts that include this portion in your Holy work... perhaps this can be used, in part, as the MF theme song?

My own $0.02.... & just athought-offering to my fellow MF'ers...;)

BamaBaba-

First..welcome to the forum and I wish you all the best in your journey here!

I started the original thread...but it went more to the humorous side...

I LOVE this song...had heard it before but did not pay that close attention to the words. But....it is a great parallel to the MF journey and my weight loss attempts and failures of the past.

Thanks so much for sharing....I listened through it again from your link and was moved!

Happy MF Day...!

I LOVE this song!!! I listen to it over and over again, particularly on difficult days, and have claimed it as my own personal theme song of the season (however long this season in my life lasts).

Janae! I musta missed that thread all together!! You're too great for words, you know that??

I loved the words to this song, Nikki! Thanks for sharing. I wish I could hear it too....I went into your website and couldn't find the link that Janae mentioned. I have a beautiful painting in my living room of Jesus standing on the waves reaching for Peter's hand....it has great personal meaning for me.

Personally, I think that "My Cheeseburger" by Mr. Lundt of Veggietales fame is the best one, or rather the antithesis of, what should be a MF theme song  :roflmao:
