Medifast 55 and Medifast 70 Shakes - what's the diff?

Postby Nancy » September 5th, 2012, 12:59 pm

Since the 80's when Medifast began manufacturing meal replacements there were two options for shakes: Medifast 55 and Medifast 70; both formulations contained the essential vitamins and minerals with a slight difference in the amount of protein and calories. The 55's contain 11 grams of protein; the 70's have 14 grams of protein. The calorie variance is small from 90 calories in the Medifast 55 shakes compared to 100 calories in the Medifast 70 shakes (BTW, the Swiss Mocha flavor has 100 and 110 calories respectively).

Backed by a strong nutrition and research department, the meal replacements are refined as needed. Women's dietary and active lifestyle needs are supported well on the Medifast 70 shakes. In July 2012, Medifast phased out the Medifast 55 shakes and simplified the process by creating one line of six nutrition-packed shakes that provide both men and women with the right nutrients— the taste and texture are better than ever!

The Medifast Plus Joint Health Shakes, the Medifast Plus Coronary Heart Health and Medifast Plus Appetite Suppression Shakes have also been phased out.

However, for those with special dietary needs, or who want a lower carbohydrate content, the Medifast Plus for Diabetics Shakes has 14 grams of protein and 10 grams of carbohydrates per meal. Be sure to check out the Antioxidant Shakes, too; the Dark Chocolate and Cherry Pom are low in carbohydrates and sugar.

Cheers to YOUR health!
