Hot Weather vs. Medifast Shakes

Postby gillian » July 17th, 2006, 12:31 pm

Hi.

The temp here exceeded 116 a few days in the past few weeks, and in the car is even hotter. The news says it can reach 200 degrees in a hot car...

I had left some reg. shakes (not RTD's) in the car- they were in their packages... Well, i ate a french van last night, and there was a significant color change as well as taste change. There is no indication that this will happen on the box... Has anyone had this happen? It was NASTY, but the product does not come cheap- I chucked it anyhow...

What to do Unca?

Hey Robin!! Are you well?

I don't know about this, but I am curious to know the answer. Good question!! Are the powders temperature sensitive??

Hey Jenn,
I sent your stuff. I added some extra because I took my time. Sorry about that- I warned you!! Everything great?

The item that concerns me is the powdered package!! The containers stink often... Lots of bleach for that one eh?
Yuck!!

I'm not sure if there's been any tests with Medifast, but if I left any food in 200 degree temperatures very long, I'd chuck them.

Hey, Gillian! I'm good. Stuck again, but I think it's because I've been working out a lot. I'm adding some more calories again to see if it helps.

And the pudding is the WORST for mold. If you don't wash the container right away and you just seal it up to wash later, it's disgusting. Oatmeal, too.

But yeah, if my food changed color or smell, I'd definitely toss it. It's hot here, too (although not quite THAT hot - low 100s), so I keep all my extra food either inside or in my purse.

He's around, but doesn't seem to be posting as much lately.

Too bad about the campaign. What happened? (PM if you want. Or e-mail.) And how is your daughter doing?

When I first started MF, I had a shake on the road in the MF shaker jar. I had a few errands to run. I left the shaker in the car. It wasn't too hot, maybe 80 degrees or so. There was a little bit of vanilla shake left in the bottom of the cup. I didn't even think about it. When I got through with my errands, I got back out to my car, opened the door, and there was yellowish white stuff all over EVERYTHING!!! And the smell is simply undescribable (if that is even a word). I couldn't figure out what it was. I got the baby wipes and cleaned off the steering wheel, and got in. I was just going to go get the car detailed after that. Well, as I drove out of the parking lot, something fell from the roof of the car down onto the console. It scared the stuff right out of me. It was a piece of the blue shaker lid. Then it registered. The jar had exploded! That was the nastiest mess I have ever cleaned up. I have 3 sons. I have cleaned up a lot of nasty stuff. I have NOT made that mistake again!!
