Does the warm weather slow things down?

Postby ljm498 » June 7th, 2005, 9:36 am

Hi all! It's finally gotten hot here in New York (did I mention finally?) and I couldn't be happier. However, since it warmed up, my weight loss has been slowing down and I'm finding I'm not, um, let's just say getting rid of as much as water as I'm putting in. I feel I could be retaining but don't really feel puffy really. I drink 100oz of water per day. Does this happen to anyone else? What do you do to get the water to go bye bye? Drink more maybe? Does my body need much more with the increasing heat and humidity? I'm 15 lbs from my half way point and want to get there but the scale hasn't budged since Friday and I'm getting restless. I suppose it could be my body readjusting and if that's the case I just need to settle down and ride it out but if there's anything I can try to get things moving again, I'll gladly do so. I've been completely compliant too so I know it's not what I'm eating. Any sage advice out there?

Thanks!!!!!
Lynne

WELCOME TO NY. i live in new york city. it is funny you brought this up. all of a sudden since it has gotten hot (really hot and humid) i dont get "rid" of the water as much as i used to. so i drink a lot of water and it stays there. but your body uses water to keep it self cool in hot weather. so the water we are drinking is being put to use but released through sweat and being used to hyrdrate our skin and keeping us cool internally. but if youre drinking 100 oz a day it is enough. i would say if youre out in that hot weather all day to obviously drink a couple of cups more a day, but 100z is plenty. also youre body is just retaining water b/c of fear of dehydrating. so i wouldnt worry about it. your body will reshuffle and realize that youre giving it water and can release what it has. Good luck and welcome again to NY.

Ok, I'll just be patient then. It's so hard to be patient (whine whine whine).

Yup, born and raised here good ole New York. I'm about 50 mins north east of Albany myself.
