I agree with you....maintenance is constantly on my mind. I vowed to myself at the onset of this seemingly endless journey that I would never go back to where I started. In part, I think I can thank my slow progress for helping in that regard because along the way I have been able to adapt strong and deeply rooted lifestyle changes that will help me maintain. I never would have thought I'd be a regular at the gym or have any interest in phsyical activity and here I am looking forward to a personal trainer (or PUSH as per Robin's success with the program) and scheming ways to shape up what I'm working with. With just about 45lbs to go, I am ready for the challenge! :D

You sound so like me!! I was NEVER all that physically active before, so none of this comes naturally to me. But now I can't stand going more than a day or two without exercise, and I LOVE seeing progress and challenging myself. Crazy, huh?

I also started preparing for maintenance early, because I'd lost the weight before and gained it back (plus more). It's funny; a co-worker is looking at a similar program right now, but medically supervised since we work at a hospital, and commented that losing the weight was the hard part and maintaining it will be easy. I said no, actually, I think losing the weight is the EASY part, and maintaining it is much harder. There's no "end date" in sight, you have so many more choices, and you don't get to watch the scale drop every week as motivation.

Robin, Is there a different taste on the shakes. I love the choc 55's and I was thinking of doing the 70's because I am starting exercise.

I haven't noticed a difference in the taste...I use both.

After last week's nice little successes, I am working on keeping it up and staying 100% on my game this week. As I am really lucky that it is easy for me to stay on plan once I am rolling, food isn't the issue, but rather just making sure my water intake is up and I'm continuing to bring exercise slowly back into my routine to help facilitate progress. I keep these great little Post-It notes all over my desk whereby I track my water intake. I draw a rectangle when I fill up a liter bottle of water and then color it in with blue highlighter after I finish the bottle. I try to get three liters down throughout the day and then fill a fourth for the evening at home when I start slowing down my intake. The last couple of days I haven't been as good about getting the water down so I am rededicating to that right now.

I am also working on incorporating the Momentum flavor infusers regularly. My intent is to use them on non-gym days so today I've had two so far. I ordered the strawberry lemonade and the mixed berry flavors and find both of them tasty and a nice switch from water a few times a day.

Other than that, I am pushing to be at goal by July 7. That is just about two months from now, it is pre-wedding craziness for the two weddings I am in this summer, and it will be three full months back on MF. According to FitDay I'll have to average just about 5lbs/week for that to happen, so it is likely not going to work, but I figure worst case scenario I just end up a lot slimmer than I am now, so no harm done in trying! At a minimum, I will be gleefully at goal prior to our engagement photo session in mid-fall and that thrills me to no end.

Ok, enough rambling...time to turn my attention back to the workday. Hope everyone is having a great day! :D

Katie, I use both too (mostly the 70s), and they taste the same to me.
I do, however, notice the difference in the protein.

Thanks for stopping by SoJo :D Glad you're around!

Hmmm.....

So on second thought, perhaps my body does not love the Momentum products. I've only used them two days, Sunday and yesterday, and realized some semi-unpleasant side effects both days that I just put together as probably being from the caffeine and EGCG. I am definitely going to hold off on trying them again until the weekend, because late afternoon at work yesterday was not fun. The odd thing was, physically on the outside I was normal, but I felt internally jittery...like my insides were shaking around and full of anxitety. The oddest thing was my body was all jazzed up, but my brain was complete fog and disconnected from my body such that I actually left work 45 minutes early because I was just completely nonproductive.

As someone not typically very sensitive to caffeine, I did not expect any odd symptoms, but I'm not sure I'll want to keep using them. I'll try again over the weekend when there is no pressure to get work down around the office and then make a final call. I may just have some Momentum up for grabs! I know a lot of people love them so I'm hoping my body gets with it...

At any rate, things are rolling along this week. I am looking forward to hitting the gym tonight after work and then going home to watch America's Next Top Model with the dogs. It's their favorite show. ;) I swear, if I weren't 5'5" I would totally rock it on that show! lol I also have mounds of laundry to do...and I hate laundry.

PS: I took some measurements last night, the first set since rejoining the MF crew a month ago. Unless I am nuts and/or forgot how to use a measuring tape I down 2.5" at the hips and 2" at the waist. Maybe I'll get rid of that tire around my waist yet!

That's great about the measurements. Congrats!!

My dogs are big hockey fans. Plus they love Survivor, but for some reason they're not fans of American Idol or Lost. They always want to go out and play when those are on.

Woohoo Cyd on those inches lost! That rocks! Thanks for checking in on me yesterday. I was awol due to some household crap (will post in my journal later). I'm still truckin.

I used the banana momentum shakes and felt the same jittery stuff a few hours after I had the second shake. I took some days off from them and when I tried them again I didn't have that problem. I actually had to take a nap the first day cause I was so 'bleh'. I've used them since and have had no problems. I usually only do two on the days that I use them instead of the three that you can use. (and I still haven't given up my coffee).

Hope you have a great day!

Hey lady! How's it going today? I wanted to comment on the pedometer question you asked in Katie's journal. Hope you don't mind. For a long time I would get the cheapies from walmart ($4-5 each) cause I continually wash mine. Anyway, the last one I got from there, a few months ago, constantly resets itself throughout the day. I would look down and have just over 5000 steps and walk to get the kids from school and then have only taken 350 steps total. Yah, I don't think so! I know from my front door to the school back to my front door is about 1500 steps.

So, anyway, I'd get one that flips open so it can't reset itself. My mom likes the ones that have an extra little clip to clip it to her belt loop so even if it comes off her waistband she won't loose it. Just my opinion.

I need to get out and get a new one. I's always fun to see if you can take more steps today than you did yesterday. Just a little game I play with myself.

Anyway, I hope you're having an awesome day!

Thanks, Skye! I definitely appreciate the pedometer input so others feel free to chime in...I would rather buy a decent one to last a while with good accuracy than always replacing a cheap/ineffectual one. :D

This week is going slow for me, both in life and in weight loss. All week I've been weighing in at 189.8 or just slightly above so I know I'm not looking at a big week at this point. I was getting frustrated and trying to figure out why and realized that the weather this week has dramatically altered my calories burned. All of the rain over the last week+ has had me avoiding the 20+ minute walks I would take along the canal (my office building is right on the Erie Canal - beautiful!) 3-4x a week, the long walks with the dogs have been shortened to avoid 12 excessively muddy doggie paws and I haven't hit the gym enough to compensate for less walking. That is why I made sure to pack gym clothes so I can hit the gym tonight after work, no excuses, and want to look into a pedometer so I can work on making sure I'm moving even during crappier weather.

Gosh, after all of last week's mini milestones I was hoping for another kick butt week. Luckily, I still have a few days left so I'm going to make sure I'm moving more and keeping the water intake up and see where it gets me. Katie has me so motivated! She is moving all of the time and loving it and I need to keep up with her so we can race to the 170s. She is my inspiration this week. :D

on the pedometer thing...I have quite a few "free" ones that had been given to me as promotional items then i have one that i paid around $20 for, one which was free but it is great quality AND has a little headlight thingy on it. The promotional ones flip open, the others are just exposed. I can't say that i have had a problem with any of them resetting themselves BUT i might add that my "promotional" ones that flip open seem to be the most accurate. Go figure!!! Apparently, all pedometers say that you should allow a +/- 10-20% error margin, so i guess no matter which one you get, it's always just an estimate. It really depends on where you place it on your waistband, i find that they are more accurate if i have on lower waisted pants as opposed to higher waisted and tighter vs. looser. So i personally would say, don't spend a whole lot of money (others may think differently) for estimates. Get a cheap one, test it out on different waistbands (or shoes! ~ thanks lauren) and see what works best for you.

Someone please tell me to go the gym. I feel like a damn slug today! My energy level is basically nonexistent and I have no desire to do anything but watch Antiques Roadshow on DVR.

I have such an exciting life.
