Can we talk about Thanksgiving???

Postby JCatz » November 10th, 2005, 11:42 am

Hey gang! I'm new to MF. Only on my second day and going strong but I'm worried about Thanksgiving. Oh sure I can monitor the Turkey but I'm thinking I should offer to bring the veggie so I have something to eat that is on plan. Any suggestions for making an on plan veggie that others may be interested in as well?

Really great seasoned green beans are always a hit during holiday meals.........or even a big bowl of broccoli and cauliflower seasoned really nicely isn't usual but displays pretty in a nice bowl.....seasoned asparagus spears are pretty if you lay them on a bed of cranberries(uncooked).

Just a couple of ideas....but Thanksgiving is easy....one meal on one day....we shouldn't really be sweating Thanksgiving...it's CHRISTMAS that turns into eating alllllllll month long that we need to prepare for!

Hope these couple of ideas help,
Christi

Hi Texas,

Thanks for the reply. You've given me some good ideas. Maybe I'll try some steamed green beans mixed with garlic Pam Olive oil fried mushrooms. Sounds good I guess.

I am with the green beans but for desert I am saving my apple cinnamon oatmeal with extra splenda, cinnamon and PUMPKIN PIE SPICE.

Thanks for the tip with the Apple Cinn. Oatmeal idea! I never thought of adding pumkin pie spice! Yummy!

I offer to bring a veggie almost every year (even before Medifast, when I was always on one diet or another). Most people are glad when they see a healthy option, even if it just means they can feel better about eating all the other holiday carbage because they also ate some broccoli.

I highly recommend a nice roasted vegetable (roasting brings out the sweetness in most veggies) - broccoli or zucchini or asparagus or even green beans. Roast it with some seasoning and some chopped fresh garlic, and it's delicious.

I'll be at someone else's house for the holiday, so for dessert I'll be enjoying either an oatmeal-raisin bar or a nice cup of Medifast cocoa. Or first the bar, and for my late-night snack, the cocoa. Mmmmmmm. I'll also be wearing the jeans I just started fitting into, so I'll be uncomfortable if I try to eat too much.
