advice needed please!

Postby marrabou » March 18th, 2006, 9:03 am

i have been perfect all week (i started on sunday)
last night i went to dinner with friends
i planned ahead what i would order
somehow, i wound up ordereing as planned, only i ate a lot of bread during the appetizer pre-meal, along with some spinach pies (small ones, but very non-MF friendly), and i had a very sugary dessert (almond pudding, it was quite large)

would you reccomend having 5 shakes today instead of the 5&1?

or should i go directly back to 5 &1 ?

thank you in advance!

Marrabu,

You would have to have 6 shakes if you did not do the 5 & 1. But, if it were me, I would just go back to the regular 5 & 1. Look at your meal as a slip and keep on trucking. Just my opinion.

Go immediately back to the program, which is 5&1 (get that Lean and Green in). If you were to only have 5 shakes, and skip your L&G, you would deprive your body of the necessary protien, carbs, nutrients, and yes, even calories, that this program needs to maintain its balance. Now, my understanding is that it's acceptable to do a full fast every now and again, which would be 6 supplements and no L&G (but if a person wants to do the full fast more than just "ever now and again," they MUST be monitored by their doctor). If you can't bring yourself to eat real food today, you could go the 6 supplement route, but my advice would be to simply get back on the program as you were doing it all last week.

Chances are pretty good that you've been knocked out of ketosis by the bread and the sugar, so know that you may have a rough couple days ahead of you again as your body readjusts. The most important thing to do is to figure out what specifically triggered the "cheating," and how you can avoid it next time. We're all in the process of learning to change and modify our behavior. Occasions like these can end up being a positive part of the journey IF we learn from them and apply that learning in the future.

Keep us updated!

GOOD GIRL, MARRABOU!

You are asking for help to get back on program---exactly what you should do! And the advice you have been given already is right on! Trying to make up for yesterday would only get you farther behind.

Good advice for all of us, really! Shows how easy it is to make a slip down a slippery slope.

That was then, this is now. Forget it, except for the lesson learned, and forge ahead. You are going to be OKAY! :bravo:

I agree with Lizabette (and the others). Yesterday is done...over. Don't try to "make up", continue on your plan, don't change the plan. You can get back on track no problem (I know it!). The next couple of days might suck as you get back into ketosis and get rid of that sugar, but you can push through it no problem and be back in smooth sailing!

Take care!

And don't do what I did and make excuses each day, start back immediately. You will be glad you did.

Hang in there!! We all stumble!! Failure is when we stay down and don't get back up. Forgive yourself and move on.

Perhaps in the future, you can take the MF crackers and eat those when everyone else is eating appetizers and bread.

As for dessert, how about a diet soda? Or make the oatmeal cookies (I'm on a campain, here) as your last meal replacement and have those for dessert. (Might want to check with a Health Advisor here -- :D Dayna?? :D )

If you get hungry later that night, try some broth or a pickle and/or some water and GET TO BED before you get hungry again.
