I'm so upset...

Postby MollieKatz » August 3rd, 2006, 10:57 am

I'm on my 4th day and finally felt like Medifast was getting easier. I bought a FUZE drink when I went out for lunch. I have bought this drink before in sugar-free and thought I would try a new flavor, but after I almost finished the 2 serving bottle I realized it was not sugar free. It was 16 carbs per serving. Is this going to set me back? I am going to have to go through sugar withdrawals all over again? Please help...I'm besides myself.
Thanks,
Lisa :x :x

It is likely to take you out of ketosis, but it's not the end of the world. Finish the day as if you didn't go off plan and watch in the future. We all make mistakes (by accident or on purpose :)) once in a while. It might make tomorrow a little more cravey but it might not. Just get back on plan and you'll be fine :)

Don't Worry

I think the important thing is not to beat yourself up over the "slip", just get back on the plan and drive on! If this has been your only slip - congrats! I've learned that we all "slip" occasionally in some way and that is okay in moderation (I have this pickle thing). Get back on track your gonna be just fine kiddo!

THe bad news is yes it probably took you out of ketosis. The good news is that you CARE that it did! If this is how you truly feel then you will do GREAT on MF! Sarya got it right...finish the day like it never happened and continue on doing what you are doing. Heck I can remember eating tabouleh for the better part of a week thinking it was compliant when I discovered it was loaded in carbs...it happens. it stinks...but it happens.

Well, its not the end of the world, just refocus. I would say don't have a bar today and reduce other sugars today and you might be able to hang on.

Thanks for your support. I felt better after reading your posts. I'm really mad at myself but I stayed with the plan for the rest of the day. Tomorrow is a new day and I will be more careful.

Ooooo Mollie!
I LOVE FUZE!!! And when we went on MF I had some in the garage fridge, went to grab one and realized that it was not calorie free! Or that it had too many :( ! I do think that they have some that are SF but not on the meal plan for this gal!
Pat yourself on the back for actually looking at the label and then realizing that an Oops had occured! You are doing great.....just keep your chin up and have a shake!

FUZE has a diet version that has SLENDERIZE on the label. I think there are at least a couple of different flavors. I'm looking at one right now - Cranberry/Raspberry. it has Super Citramax and L-Carnitine along with Chromium and Vitamin C. 5 Calories per serving, 2g carbs of which 1 gram is sugar, 5 mg Sodium. There are 2 servings per bottle. Do you think the sugar would put you out of ketosis?

It's really really hard to determine exactly how much of the "forbidden" will put us out of ketosis. I've heard Dr. Andersen say one or two croutons and others say a piece of bread. My best advice is don't fool around. If it's not listed in the quick start booklet it doesn't go in the mouth. That way we don't have to worry about a juggling act. What generally happens when we start to juggle things is that we drop the ball and it rolls right downhill. There we go down the "slippery slope"
