Hello Suzie Q, my name is Brenda. I just wanted to drop by and introduce myself. I have had a love-hate relationship with MF for 3 years now. I have a journal that chronicles the gory details so I won't bore ya here.

Sounds like you have remembered the important things about MF "constancy" and "determination". You just keep doing what you are doing and throw those sticks away. T and Katie are right, the state of ketosis we go into on MF is so mild TSFL has even stopped calling it that - now it is just the "fat burning" stage. Sounds like your there. You go girl!!

Drop by sometime if you can.

Hello!! Where in the world do I begin? Let's start, I suppose, with the good news ....

.....Friday's are my official WI day and I am down 3 pounds this week!! I have 22.6 to go to get to my wedding goal -- Oh I am so going to bust through that goal!!!!

.....After a really really really stressful and crappy week not only am I down 3 pounds, I stayed 100% compliant, I didn't run to food or partake in any retail therapy.

.....I had a routine (first/baseline) mammogram last week -- this week (Tues) they called me back and Wed I had to go for more views. Apparently I have calcifications in both breasts -- they say they are benign (that's why this is under the good news heading), bilateral, etc etc so other than annual screenings, nothing further is recommended. I'm hoping all continues to be well -- so for now, its on the back burner and I'm not going to worry about it. There is nothing I can do about it, so why worry?

OK, the really crappy news ...

.....I had to have an ultrasound because my uterus was found to be enlarged during my routine GYN exam. Apparently I have large fibroids inside my uterus....a hysterectomy is the best recommended course of treatment -- although, the whole reason I went in for a GYN check up was because we were considering if we'd add to our family or not. First on the agenda before we decided was to get check-up's......so, this literally came to me out of LEFT FIELD!!! So I know a hysterectomy is in my future but I dont know when I'll do it -- I'm frankly having a hard time accepting that I need one -- esp at my age :(

Sooooo, its beed one heck of a week! It's a great accomplishment to be down 3 pounds, to have remained compliant, to have skipped retail therapy and to still be outside of the rubber room :)

I hope everyone has a terrific OP weekend!

Hi there,

Ummm. honestly, the only real difference I have ever seen where I noticed and other people noticed a change was when I did Atkins. I thought with the results everyone was having with Medifast that this would maybe work better (faster ?) and it likely does, but my problem is that I suck at planning ahead, no matter how I try. I think Atkins maybe got a little boring and I got sick of eating so much meat, hence all the tuna. Then, I saw that so much tuna with the mercury in it might not be the best. Either way, I thought I would try MF out. I do think it woks well, but I just can't manage ot stay on the bandwagon long enough to see a change. I think it is just harder for me because I distrust most people and I, unlike others here, do not share a lot of info with others and I would never tell friends or family what I was doing. Subsequently, I had/have a horrible time trying to "hide" packets. I mean, yes, I am okay with putting stuff in baggies and eating the puffs and bars and pretzels that way. I think it just draws too much attention and I would prefer not to do that instead of lying about it. I guess when you screw up so much, finding another failure is just hard. I think I was able to do Atkins so well because it was easy and I like salad. I need to get over the blue cheese dressing, because I honestly could eat that non-stop every day with meat/protein and a salad.

I rememebr one summer I did Atkins the whole summer adn I did really. really well and made the fatal mistak eof going off the weekend before school started up and had such a hard time ever getting back to it. My mistake. I never should have stopped. I guess I like oatmeal and the shakes and it seemed easier and less time consuming and expensive to just have packets. I think they both work if you stick with them. I would, if I had the money, probably go back to Atkins. BUt, until I have the packets used up that I alraedy bought, I am not doing anything but MF. Then I run into the ? of, "If MF worked, why change it??

But, I say, what works for you works.
You seem like you have been doing really well, so far, though.
Don't really care as long as everything's better than yesterday was...

Thanks for sharing, Sid! I was just curious if you'd seen a weight loss or any other difference. Carbs are truly not my friend and I can see myself on some form of carb restriction for the long haul once I leave the weight loss phase. I dont want to have to buy MF products forever and was thinking ahead wondering if Atkins would be an alternative. I did it wayyyyyyyyyyy long ago -- but couldn't stick to it, LOL, as I couldn't give up my breads! Eating dirt for a long while now has taught me to better appreciate things - lol

Its always a pleasure to see you at my house :) Thanks for stopping in and for the encouraging words! I go to the doctor on Friday (yikes, tomorrow!!) to discuss all of the test results and decide next steps and such. <sigh> The good news is that the scale continues to move in the right direction despite the world around me falling down! I hope your scale is being nice to you as well!!

Today is my official WI day and I'm down 2.2 for the week. I had one of those weeks where the day after WI, my body freaked out and the scale has been up 2 or so pounds all week. I've been eating pretty much the same thing so I dunno why it does that --- other than to mess with my head!! So, after a week of being +2 most days, I am happy to now be -2.2....which really should be -4.2 if you count those ghost pounds.... :roflmao: :roflmao:

See ya!

I hope all went well at the dr. today. hopefully, you were offered alternatives to the hysterectomy. i'm glad the scale is working in your favor, it adds a little sunshine. just remember, things could ALWAYS be worse. you can be thankful that any ailment you are experiencing is benign. keeping you in my prayers!

Hey, girls, thanks for dropping in and thinking about me :) The support is MUCH appreciated!!! I went to the doc and learned I do have the option to just remove the fibroids. Being able to have a child will still be up in the air as they're saying its an uphill battle. But, no matter how little the chance, there is a ZERO percent chance if I remove my uterus so..... I'm still praying and trying to determine what to do. I know I'll have *some kind* of surgery in July -- just dont know which one yet. Prayers are appreciated!!

The good news -- I continue to lose! I was down 2.2 this week and I am .4 away from the 30# club!! But, I was REALLY shocked when I dressed for church this morning and the 14's fell to my hips :) I had to dig out the 12's which are a different brand and had been really snug. I was forced to wear them and wouldn't you know, they fit OK :). I do have room to lose in them and still wear them so I should be in them for a bit. I'm going to dig back through my journal and see how long I was in those 14's......the thing that surprised me is I'm about 15 pounds heavier than I was when I wore them before. They are the smallest dress pants I have sooooo I'll have to buy new ones soon -- oh darn! LOL

Hope everyone has a great WI!

Great news on just removing the fibroids. Who knows, perhaps there will be new/better treatment options when, or if, more fibroids appear in the future.

Congratulations on this week's loss and on having to ditch the size 14s!

Size 12 WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Soon, you'll be saying, "20 lbs. to go!"
Everything will go okay. You can always get a few opinions, if needed.
