I've used expired packets - probably a vitamin isn't a bad idea but other than that I don't think there's a problem. Never tried an expired RTD though - yikes!

Rant away - it gives me something to read!

On the 6 packets no L&G - I'm doing it that way and it is wonderful. I was always afraid to do it before because of the whole 'doctor supervision' clause but I'm on doctor supervision anyway with blood work done every three months for my thyroid so I figured I'd just go for it. I have been LESS hungry and had fewer cravings than when I eat a L&G. I'm tossing around the idea of eating L&G once a week or so, but at the moment I do not want to mess with what is working for me. I guess it suits my all-or-nothing personality - I can either eat nothing, or everything, and there is no in-between!

The MF nurse lady said that it is okay to use expired packets as long as you take a vitamin with it that day since the oomph of the vitamins in the packet may have been compromised. No biggie. Have done it before and can't taste the difference. It's better than wasting money on getting rid of products to replenish the stock!!

Yeah, didn't mean to hit send, yet. So..........

Just got back from a last minute trip to LA. My dad met someone online there and has been flying there a few times a month (only an hour away, so it's not too bad), but he decided he wanted the 4 of us us to meet her individually. My brother is in San Diego so he went out last weekend and I drove down to LA this weekend. Eh, so much for having plans. We were out doing a lot of stuff, so to be honest, it didn't mess to much with my plans other than I needed to do lots of reports for school and couldn't.

I have to go back out there 2 more times with people and again to NV with my aunt and then 2 more times to LA in July, so I think at this point, the whole 6 packet/meals a day is going to be cut back to one lean and green or as close as I can come to it. When I am home I can do whatever.

I am moving into the new place on the 13th and every weekend after seems to be accounted for and often spilling into the next week (or M and F, at least). At least I am not staying home doing nothing. I hate that. I did need to do some research for my paper, but I will just have to find time for that. OK, off to do a load of laundry. I am sure I will be back.

Just hearing how busy you are going to be, and how much traveling you are going to do, makes me anxious. I don't deal well with being away from home and my routine more than every once in a while. I hope you enjoy all of it and have a plan you can live with. :D

Yeah, I think being home would be easier. But, it's summer vacation and I don't want to be stuck here. Add to that, I am not telling anyone what I am doing, so all that does make it a little tougher, but I hope it will be okay.

So, I needed a place to gather all my recipes together that I have been scouting out on various websites and I figured I would post them here so I always know where they are and amyone else who wants to use them certainly can. Some I have seen here, some not. They might be on here someplace; I just haven't seen them. I almost was a chef professionally so cooking for me is what I do when I don't want to do school work. It's probably my favorite thing to do, second only to baking, though.

OK, so here are some:

Cream of (Whatever) Soup Chips

(also works if you blend up the other soups and make them into a powder)

-soup mix
- 3 t. H20
-seasonings

Pam on a glass dish and pop in micro for 3 min., flip then another 1 min. Break it up into chip pieces. It hardens up a little as it dries.

You can do this and make more like tortilla if you only micro for 30 seconds per side. Can make an order of MF eggs and then have an egg tortilla for breakfast and have the other half later on...unless the tortilla hardens up...worth checking out

Basic cake recipe-1 pack of MF meal
-1/2 t BP
-2 T egg beaters
-2 t liquid
-1/2 t vanilla or seasonings (sweet or savory)
-1 t flax
350 for 15 min

Kale Chips
Wash and dry pieces of kale ripped up
Pam/salt
350 for ~15 min. watch closely...burns a few seconds too late, not good a few seconds too soon. Adjust flavor..kale is bitter

I have made it before and if you salt it and then wash it off, some bitterness goes away. Plus, kale is really cheap, so always good.

Bread Pudding

1 oatmeal
1 pudding (play around with flavor combos of oatmeal and pudding)
1 splenda if you want
3/4 c. H20
1/4 t. BP
1 t. vanilla
some cinnamon
1/2 c. egg beaters
350 30 min

Never made this, but I would add a pinch of salt. Some have added lemon topping or some flavored SF syrups in for toppings or more moisture.

Buns for hamburger or MSF
2 oz FF crm chs
.5 c riced cauliflower
1 egg white

mix and spread into 2 rounds. 350- 15 min or so. Use as bun for sandwich or hamburger. Add salad and it makes a meal with cheese on MSF hamburger

Pudding stuff:

Chocolate Cake1 pack choc. pudding
1 pack choc shake
1 scrambled eggs
1 t. BP
1 t. vanilla
2/3 - 3/4 c H20

350 for 13-14 min

I use other than chocolate flavors, so go for a combo you like. Divide by 3 cakes when you bake it!

Pudding Ice Cream

1 pack pudding
1/2 c. cold H20
1 c. ice
1 oz cold FF cream chs
1 packet splenda
1/2 t. vanilla
Blend it up!!

Some of these I have made and when you add in some WF syrup and the right flavoring and get creative, I think it is possible to do 6 MF meals a day for a while. For a time I was thinking maybe not, but I think it will work out for me. Hopefully some of these recipes are new to people and some are old but forgotten and this has reminded you.

I am off to search more. Def. buying kale tomorrow to test that one out. There are some good mixed salt flavors taht haev good flavor. Gotta go spice shopping again.

Wed AM- Have soooo much work to finish by the end of today. No time to be here, really. Just keeping this here so I can flash back during the week and see what is going on.

1. Hot Chocolate Shake 16 oz H2O
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.

You know when you feel in the mood to do everything. That's what I feel today. Got up, took a shower, gonna do some wash, took the time to make a shake instead of falling asleep again. Last night I took chairs and bags of clothes to church and dumped garbage. Figure if I do it now, it is less to do next weekend when I am trying to maximize the time I have the moving truck available to me.

I always end up disappointed on those kinds of days if I don't get everything done that I had hoped. I need to work on celebrating the success and not dwelling on the failure I guess. I hope you had a great day.

Ended up running around all day. Had more than the hot chocolate, but unfortunately it was pizza I picked up on the way home. On the other front, I had like a million bottles of water, so I am still constantly in the bathroom. Of course, the pizza, being the only thing I had yesterday, made me sick all night. I know it and I do it anyway.

Yeah, I suppose I have to really pick a day and say, "Starting now....". For now, I will keep saying what I seem to have said...tomorrow. I really just have to do it instead of planning to do it.

Well, on the plus side for me, I am down to about tuna fish in the cabinet and am trying very hard to save my money and not go shopping so I can buy my aunt a plane ticket as a Christmas present. So, all I bought was FF cream cheese so I can make some of those pudding recipes I saw. You know what sucks? I am actually good about doing MF. I just have to start it so I can be good at it. I did so good at it last time and I did the "just this weekend before school starts" thing and I haven't ever done 100% for real again.

I am looking at apartments because I want to move after this next school year and I am signing up for all these walks to get myself motivated. Maybe it will work. I think I have to just start Friday and stop getting ready to start so that I can look back and see how much I lost in a week or how many clothes do I need to buy. I want to be able to buy new clothes, which I desperately need not due to size, but due to me having none and paying so much rent here and supporting my brother, sister-in- law and niece who are living here, that I had no spare money for anything new at all.

It's not intentional but in my head I know I am eating less stuff, so that is better, but I am not ever officially on the plan, so it isn't like I am screwing it up. I know every shake I have is good because of the soy, but I guess mentally I am just not really feeling badly because I haven't started anything to go off anything. This makes sense in my head....

OK, so I guess I say it officially....Starting on Friday, June 5, I will take all the MF meals I have and all the recipes I have and actually use them and stay on the plan. Lord, I am lame.

I think I forget and jsut go to grab fruit or cereal or something and don't even think about it or more commonly in the AM, I don't grab anything and just leave the house. By 11 at lunch time, it is 5 hours since I had been up and still not eaten, that I just did the salad bar in the caf. and did whatever the rest of the day. I am telling you (Me?) I am horrible about planning things out. I have to just make few orders of soup crackers in the morning and keep freezing my water and start again.

So, yup, I will do all this starting Friday June 5. My aunt will be here on the 26th. I'll use that to see if she notices anything. I still won't tell her, but I'll see. Booked the Laughlin hotel today! $200 for 4 days M-F morning and check out Friday. You should see me trying to fnd anything close to that in LA. Pathetic. The place I would love to stay in is $164 a night. It is right where I would love to live, too. I was telling my aunt about it on the phone and she said, "Wow, if you stayed there you would love it. Right up your alley. You liked that area every time we went there; you practically lived there."

She then asked the price and said, "Uh, Teresa, too much money. Find somewhere cheaper." UH HUH!!

I'll be back Friday AM to get my daily list going! Have a good day

Okay, Teresa ! I just read through your post whilest eating me yummy MF kibbles (in the form of scrambled eggs). Wow, you are supporting your brother and sister-in-law and niece ?? That is extremely nice of you !

I very much 'get' the whole "I know better but I do it anyway" routine ... my guess is that there are also times when you know better and so you don't ! One day, you just won't. period.

I also very much understand the good at being on, then going off once and bye bye full-on forever (it seems !). That's why, after a couple (few ?) years of that, I have decided that it is ALWAYS a ploy when that "voice" tries to tell me it's okay to eat something off plan... even if that same "voice" promises me it's only once, or only for a weekend, or even if it has the nerve to tell me I will just hop right back on tomorrow or in a few days. BS ! That sly BS monster, always plotting and scheming, trying to trap us !

"I will not be trapped by you anymore, you stupid BS monster :x ... you have no power anymore because I'm smarter than you and I see right through you !!"

But, yeah, today you are starting ! Do it :). I hope your day is going well :). Stop on in and let us know.

So did you do it?? And if you forgot again, maybe put the cereal and fruit out of sight and leave a couple of Medi-packets out on the counter where you can't miss them? Or by the bowls or spoons or whatever?

Yes, I did!!

I am so dumb. I guess I just never really just picked a day to start. I just grabbed stuff in the morning and by the afternoon if I was still doing it, I was, if not, then nah. Like I said, I should plan better and things would be better.

Today is National Donut Day-- it was on the news this AM.

So, yeah, I did. I had an oatmeal crunch bar and am working on 32 oz. of water. Water is not an issue for me, so I am sure I'll end up with 200 oz. by bed time.

So, I am not in school now b/c of summer break, so my times are all out of whack. I sleep off times because I am up at all hours typing/researching/avoiding ways of doing typing and researching.

Anyhow, I ended up going to bed at about 630 this morning (Friday am) and woke up around 1 pm or so, so my day is not exactly the schedule that everyone else has normally. But, I did good, I think. I got up at switched the loads of laundry, put new in and hung the other stuff up to dry. I am really trying to clean what I can before I move!!

I also had that box I had brought in from my car. It was a box of MF bars I had ordered---the new crunch ones and also a box of tomato soup I had purchased not realizing I had plenty already here in another drawer..duh. So, yeah, I put the bars away, ripped up the box, cleaned up the bathroom. Finally had a bar. I like the oatmeal crunch bar a lot. I had the strawberry one a week or so ago and the mint one, too. Definitely like the oatmeal the best, so far. Gotta order some of the other flavors. There was a list of all of them, so now I see in one spot all of them and their picture. Word on the street is the caramel one is really good.

In this last order that I got and remember this has been sitting in the box, so maybe they have been doing this for a while and I missed it, there was a much simpler brochure on lean & green options and measurements. So, I saved that. There was also another copy of the same one in a folder. So, I am going to keep one in the car, too. And, of course, another shaker cup.

OK, so I was reading on some other sites about MF recipes and options and 2 things hit me, then I hit myself and said DUH! Number 1- I make cold hot chocolate shakes all the time why not make hot pudding soup like one poster suggested. With the right flavorings it could work and instead of chocolate like she suggested, why not vanilla and then I could add flavor drops and possibly end up with warm apple pie flavored pudding with a spoon of vanilla ice cream flavored cream cheese? There's warm chocolate Mexican soup I make, so maybe I will doctor it up with cinnamon. I will play with those and see how it goes. Revelation number 2- I am driving to all these places...why not just pack the Magic Bullet. It's small enough. I am packing oatmeal and bars, why not throw that in the bag, too. Ockham's Razor wins out again. I mean, yeah, I could bring bars and oatmeal and hot chocolate and make them in the hotel room, but why not take advantage of the free ice machine and make some shakes, too. Wow, sometimes I need to think things through more, which is odd coming from me b/c I give myself headaches thinking too hard sometimes.

So, 2 cups of egg beaters is a lot. I think I am going to use 1 cup of the egg and 1 MSF and make an omelette. Then, my favorite, cucumbers or spinach in the egg. Question---> the cheese wedges you guys talk about you count 2 per day as your fat as MF nurse says, or you include it as a non-meat option? Also, how do you measure the MSF crumbles. I like those better w/ the eggs, so I think a cup of them might be the same?

OK. I have actually taken the time to write a plan. Gasp here. Like I said I am writing about stressors in the education world (for the educator, not the students---good study, but too much involved with including minors in research) and yoga and meditation keep coming up. So, I decided that I will be moved into the new place by the 13th and by the 15th completely. That should give me time to put stuff away and there is the window of time I need to get used to MF full time and do the exercise daily. So, I have these yoga tapes, Walk Away the Pounds and some rather dumb Richard Simmons ones. But, I digress...If I wake up early in the AM and can do something for a half hour or so and ditto at night and include in there a yoga tape, that would be great. I'll schedule it in and whatever else I do, will be a bonus. I just really need to be living alone for a while so I can get my stuff back on track. I am going to see if my dad will give me the exercise bike he bought off craigslist and decided that he doesn't like the layout of some bar on it. Maybe I can take it off his hands since he is looking to simplify lately. Even if I ride while I watch TV at night that would be good.

I don't know if I have stated this, but I really, really want to live on my own again. My brother will be moving out to an apartment in the building next door to me. I have no doubt the baby will be with me almost all the time, but knowing I am not responsible for their gas, electric, cable, insurance, phone, rent, food in the fridge is going to be great for me. Saving money on the bills and knowing that what I put in the fridge and cabinets will be there when I want it is going to be so much easier than being upset about them not taking care of their kid right, eating my food, not replacing stuff. So, yes, I think that once I can have some other stress reduced, not gone, and everything else starts falling into place, things will be better. Something like planning ahead will be simple for me when I know no one is around to ask questions, touch my stuff, move it, eat it...

Gonna start a new post for the food of the day chart.

Fri Jun 5...better late than never

32 oz H2O and oatmeal crunch bar
water--like 16 oz. bottle maybe?

32 oz H2O and crm of broc soup made into crackers- really good by the way. I only left them in for 2 minutes and added a little spoon extra if water. Sprinkled some seasoning on it while wet. Made it on a Pammed dinner plate so it could spread out and flipped it over after 2 minutes and then maybe 30 more seconds on the other side.

Dinner- Steak and green beans/mushrooms with 1/2 of the LC piece mixed into the beans. 32 oz. H2O

Nor sure what the rest of the night is gonna see....probably the cream of whatever soups. I wanna try it out with the crab and the tomato ones see how that goes......gonna go plug it in to the mymedifast log see where I am for the day.

Looking forward ot the beef stew. I like it a lot.
