Out of Commission for a few days...

Postby Guest » September 10th, 2004, 8:13 am

Hi, Folks ~

I am out of commission for several days. Went to see the ortho doc yesterday and got several shots of cortisone in my back and hip so I am banned to bed for three days - no bending, twisting, sitting, etc. Argh!

Hang tough - if Carrie can deal with the hurricane, we can deal with our issues and not cave to the rave of the flaves, right?

Shake on, Dudes and Dudettes!

Hi All,
The previous post was from Nancy. The cortisone must have got into her login button...

Nancy,

Sounds like a total bummer. I just hope that you'll feel much better after your 3 day enforced rest.

Don't worry - we'll miss you but we'll keep on shaking anyway!

Aloha Nancy,

Don't worry about us - we'll miss you here for a few days, but you behave and stay down so you can heal up completely. Suppose you were practicing your hula moves a little too much huh? Kidding. You get better sweetie.

Camille, you are a hoot about the hula! Lucky Nancy - it will be that time in no time.

I always heard that cortisone shots just fixed the pain instantly -- though I turned one down in favor of anti-inflammatory med once and it worked, eventually.

Here's to "on the mend". We shall charge on.

Thank you one and all for your messages - you are smile bringers, for sure!

I had cortisone shots in my hip and back and yes, they DO make you feel better initially because they are laced with lidocaine. Then it's three days of rest - no sitting for long periods of time, no walking (crutches are sometimes to be used...), no lying on the affected side, etc. I am taking anti-inflammatories (I think Terry asked the doc to keep me sedated!). I DO have pin now but it is getting mo' bettah!

I hope to sneak out tomorrow for church and to attend a baby shower!

I am trying very hard to be good so that when we go on vacation (which BTW is in 13 days! :cleader: ), I can snork, swim and hula with no limping and see Camille at the airport!! Oh, we also want to try to get to the Hard Rock in Honolulu to pick up a glass - Terry always likes to visit HR & buy a souvenir pilsner glass!

Nancy -

Yes, LW, you better behave so you can be a comfortable cool cat when you get here in a few weeks. Unca and Tim - maybe you better tie her up so she'll stay down and mend up. If you folks don't have enough time to get to the Honolulu Hard Rock, I can certainly pick up whatever you're looking to get, and send it to you.

Now behave!

Nancy - hope you're back up and around and feeling fine. I've never had to have a cortisone shot before (lucky me). But I have had to drag my Dad to the Doc for one - he grumbled and grumped all the way up to the time the Doc depressed the plunger - and then he felt instantly better, LOL.

Thanks.

I am moving about a lot better today. Some residual pain but so much better than before the shot. Still using a heating pad to make it feel happy.

I trimmed and mowed the lawn today while Terry was away. Shh...don't tell on me.
