LORI & ARK!

When I look at the numbers you both (me,too) have lost, (50#- 60#) I am absolutely amazed how far we have come.
Just marvel about it for a moment...
and then let's determine not to allow anything or anybody to deter us from going on to reach our untimate goal!

Oh, the greatest NSV of all time for me!
Today at a new doctor's consultation for a varicose vein procedure,
I was asked to fill out all the forms with the usual health information, etc.
When it came to the space to write in my weight, WOWZER, I could proudly write in my real weight of 139!
And I wasn't the least bit embarrassed when the doctor checked my legs for the offending veins.
What a high that was!

Today was a good day.
My products came today after a mixup in getting my order.
There was all these goodies to choose from that I had been missing for several days.
I jumped on the Vanilla/Berry Oatmeal like a cat on a junebug.
It was so good.

My meals today were:
Bar for breakfast
Shake by the pool before water aerobics
Chicken /noodle soup for lunch
Vanilla/Berry Oatmeal for afternoon snack
L & G was Veggie Omelet (Made with Egg Beaters, f/f shredded cheese, frozen chopped spinach, mushrooms, frozen onions & peppers)
Yummy!
Chocolate Pudding for evening.
Snacks during day was s/f jello with Apple/cinnamon Crisps.

Come-on, LORI & ARK, let's get there!

Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit!

I'm glad you had such a good day. You made me laugh with your "cat on a junebug" saying, LOL. Did I tell you that I used to live in Arkansas? Yes ma'am, in Van Buren, the Crawford County seat (it's across the river from Ft. Smith). You always remind me of the good folk I knew there. The biscuit comment was one of my favorites, and here's another one: "Why, y'aint no bigger'n a bar o'soap after a hard days a'warshin! Of course, no one would say that to me NOW, but soon...
:D

Anyway, congrats on the 130s. That must be SO sweet!

SOJOURNER,

I knew you would make the boards so interesting and fun!
Yes, we know Van Buren---good folks and great town!
Originally we are Okies, but that's just a 'kissing cousin' to Arkansas,
where we love living during our retirement years.
Hey, being in the 130's is SO sweet! Thank you!

I talked in yesterday's journal about being in the new doctor's office...
filling out all the health forms.
I am convinced now more than ever that excessive weight is the root of many health evils!
Just name it and most health issues result from the 'flabbage' we lug around on our God-given frames!
Better yet, those problems can be alleviated and perhaps cured by
returning to the normal weight where we should be in the first place.
I feel that I am testimony to that!
I have already mentioned a whole 'passle' of medical problems I had that are all better now!

Today will be pretty much a repeat of yesterday in the meal department.
I'm on a roll, down another pound this morning!

SOJOURNER...I love your avatar baby picture. You were adorable!
But just thinking, maybe you will grow up now and use your current 'gorgeous' picture.
Just like to see who's a'talking!

AUGUST 17, 2006

I have reach another milestone, people!
I can now wear my size 9/10 tan leather jacket that I have refused to give up for years...
but never really expected to get back into again!
It will still fit very comfortably when the weather cools down enough!

But so many clothes in my closet store are too big and baggy,
some of which I have had for just a short while.
So out they must go soon.
I must make space for some new things to replace them.

Isn't it a weird feeling to be almost daily changing sizes.
It seems to happen even before the scale catches up!
I heard my DH tell someone the other day that I am smaller than I have been in 40 years!
As some have said, I can't really see it that much, except that I am either shrinking, or my clothes are expanding!

Well, today was another good day. Hot, but good!
Seems it is especially good on the days of water aerobics.
I feel I am caring for my body through exercise as well as food.

An unexpected event is coming up for me--which I will need to do some planning for food-wise.
I've been invited to go with a friend to Memphis Graceland leaving Monday to attend an Elvis Country Candlelight Service on Tuesday.
I am excited about that 3 day trip---my first away from HB in years!
My friend has Elvis t-shirts for me to wear with white pants.
I would never have dreamed of doing that before losing my weight!

I'll take my packets of food to prepare in the hotel, and enjoy my L & G's with other Elvis fans.
So you may not hear from me until I return, except for this Sunday Roll Call, when I hope to post a loss.

Almost there, my wonderful supportive Medifast friends!

It's fun to hear about your milestones, dear Lizabette. I'm so happy for you......I can't believe you're only a few pounds away from goal....sooooo exciting!!!

Have fun at Graceland, and I know you'll stay on-plan....I want to hear all about it when you get back. Just think, you'll be able to call your hubby from there and ask, "Are you lonesome tonight?" 8) I like to call my hubby my Hunka, hunka burnin' love!

JOY,

You're the sweetest!
Thank you for your response to my 'leather jacket' milestone.
It'll be nice when the weather cools down enough to wear it!
I had always preferred cold weather before, so I could wear bulky jackets and sweats to hide under!
But not now...

How cute to call HB from Graceland and sing, "Are you lonesome tonight" Better that than the "Jail House Rock"! Right?
Elvis is my favorite gospel singer...so many to name, but "Crying In The Chapel" is one.
We've been to Graceland several times and love it, but never to the special Candle Light Service.
That will be an experience! I must keep a daily journal and pictures about my trip.

Gotta get moving, and go to NBC (Name Brand Clothing) or somewhere to get me a pair of white pants to go with the Elvis t-shirts.
I had 2 pair, but then remembered I had already donated them earlier.

Sure glad I have you and others 'watching' me and making me accountable so I will stay on plan.
These last pounds are sure coming off slow, anyway.

"Love Me Tender", JOY!

Lizabette,

Just had to share this, lol. I read your last post and saw the mention of "leather jacket" and immediately my mind went to "Harley - biker girl"......hahahaha. Then I went back to your original reference to the jacket, saw it was tan and had to chuckle at how we jump to conclusions sometimes.

Not that there's anything wrong with a silver fox on a harley, just struck me as a funny visual.

HEY, JO!
Good thing you checked back about my 'tan' leather jacket. Stopped that Harley-Biker Silver Fox" rumour in its tracks!

Oh, I had the greatest time today shopping for white pants to go with the Elvis T-shirts mentioned earlier.
NBC had racks and racks of jeans and pants, with whites mixed in.
Some 10's and 12's fit!
Found this pair of white jeans with rhinestones & embroidered designs on one leg, ala Elvis! to wear to the candlelight service Tuesday eve.
And a couple other whites to wear at other times.

Can you tell I am excited about this trip?
Why, I wonder, because as I said I have been to Graceland several times before?
Getting my food together and jammies, etc. etc. Gotta pack for leaving tomorrow!

Hope all the Roll Calls are great tomorrow morning, including mine!

AUGUST 18, 2006

My trip to Memphis this week for the Elvis Country Candlelight Service was amazing!
I felt so good and fit with plenty of NSV’s coming my way.
The night of the Candlelight vigil (Wednesday) lasted way up into the next morning,
We got into bed about 4:30 a.m. Thursday and then up at about 9 a.m. getting ready to come back home.
Our group stood sentinel while thousands of candlelit carrying folks from all walks of life,
marched slowly from the EP front gate to the Memorial Garden where Elvis and his parents are buried.
What a sight! Hope some of you viewed it on TV.

While we were there, there was much sight seeing, shopping for small & medium tops and souvenirs, etc.
Beale Street was interesting and historic.
Of course, I took my food along and did a maintenance type food plan while there.
I did 3 or 4 packets & bar, with 2 small L & G’s on 2 days and 1 L&G on the 3rd, with the 5 packets & bars.
Still 137.3, almost 58#’s gone!
You know, it is relatively simple to stay on plan while on a trip if it is planned out carefully.
Thank goodness, I had it. I have been known to gain five pounds on a short trip like that!
At lunch one day, one at our table said, “I would never try to diet on a vacation!”
I explained to her that I had worked hard for 6 or more months, and I was not about to destroy it now!
She kind of changed the subject…I hope that she will also decide to do something for herself to get healthy and fit.

One person asked what size my fancy white jeans were…with the embroidery and rhinestones on the left leg.
When I told her size 12, she said, “Oh, I thought it was about a size 4!”
Exaggeration or not...is that an NSV or what!

Just had to include my picture here in front of the Statue of Christ in the Memorial Garden, as if I needed proof that I was there!
It really emphasizes our reason for everything.
Every person who has lost a loved one should be encouraged that someday we will see him or her again.

Love you all

AUGUST 24, 2006

LORI AND ARK!

Thank you for the kind words. You are both in the 60# Club.
Congratulations! How wonderful is this amazing accomplishment!

It's been several days since I journaled. Where has the time gone!
A lot has happened since then.
Mainly, I had the relatively new VNUS Closure (varicose vein) procedure done a couple days ago,
and I am still required to wear the heavy compression hose on both legs ( to prevent blood clotting).
ARK, you are no doubt familiar with this procedure...
Even with the stockings on I weighed in at 137 yesterday. (I am in the 136 range. WHOOHOO!)

The surgeon had a difficult time getting the big vein that feeds blood to the leg veins to close up as it should after the catheter was withdrawn.
What should have taken about 45 minutes took almost three hours.

He tried every thing until at last he wrapped my leg in ace bandages while holding my leg straight up in the air (to assist the flow of blood).
Know what he said? "Good thing your leg isn't big!"
That sort of, kind of, maybe... made it almost worth it!

Afterwards he said in all his forty previous procedures, mine was the winner! Dubious honor!
Will await his final words on the success or failure tomorrow after another ultra sound.

Since this is my journal, it is okay to talk about my operation, right?
As you can tell, I am nearing my goal of 135. I have been reading and reading about transition and maintenance.
There is no going back, folks.

On my frequent trips lately, I have learned somewhat how to maintain.
Good lessons.

That's all, ya'll! Thanks for listening!

Silver Fox ~ It's your journal so talk about what ever YOU want to talk about. My mom had huge, horrible varicose veins and had a few vein stripping procedures. Never worked for her. Let me know how you fair after this procedure, b/c I've had varicose veins as long as I can remember and am hopeful that I can do something about mine after I reach goal.
