JURY'S OUT VERDICT NEEDED

Postby elle4nelly » October 24th, 2005, 10:48 am

DIET PILLS:

What's the verdict anyone???? I suspect that they are the reason I am not loosing weight as fast as before. Could the HIGH load of Caffeine in them dehydrate you and thus make you retain water. Or is the speeding of the metabolism effect causing a " Starvation mode" in your body thus slowing your weight loss???

Anyone expert in this??? I'd like to know! I lost tons the natural way last year on Medifast and thought I was smart adding Lypodrene-SR to my diet this time and I feel starved at days end not all but some days on it as if my body as burned all the nutrients and now it's starving. And I am losing slower!

Verdict on Diet pills needed please!

Thank you Gals....happy shaking!!!!!!

Let me first say that this is my own personal opinion based on personal experience. I was on a self designed diet for most of the year. With this I was taking a diet pill that worked quiet well because I wasn't hungry much and when I was I would eat mostly healthy foods. From Jan 1 until Aug 31 I lost 15.5lbs. I thought I was doing well and then I discovered MF. I will admit that I took the same diet pills the first three days because I had read it would be the most difficult time. I have since flushed the diet pills because I don't need them. Following the MF plan when I am hungry it is time to eat. On those occasions when I am hungry between meals I will go ahead and have the next shake.

I am wondering why you feel the need for diet pills. How long have you been on MF? Is there something that you are doing that is causing you to be hungry. Is it real hunger? Are you drinking enough water? That is what I have found causes my slowed weight loss.

So my opinion is that with MF I don't need diet pills.

With MF and since Sept 1 I have lost over 20lbs.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi!

I took them out of impatience. I thought if I lost 35 lbs in 36 days my first time around on medifast last year, maybe I can lose as fast or even prevent my metabolism from slowing down by taking those" increase metabolism/ cut appetite" pills. And I actually feel hungry on some days while taking those pills. Where I never felt hungry the natural way before. I am beginning to think that on Medifast diet pills are not a good idea! At least the kind that increase your metabolism, it seems they make my body burn through my nutrient faster. leaving me a little hungry after all my shakes are in on some days.

Nancy? Any thought on this? Unca Tim?

Diet Pills

Postby Jan » October 24th, 2005, 9:02 pm

. Hi There,
It's sad but true -- we don't gain our weight over night and we won't lose it that way either. It is what we do day by day that counts. I think the pills which say they "boost your metabolism" probably ruin your metabolism. It has been my experience that no one that I know has been able to sustain their weight loss after diet pills. How are they going to keep their metabolism racing??Plus, many of these things are plain dangerous. We all know the horror stories of diet pills -- both prescribed and over the counter.
With M.F. you have a well researched safe and quick method to part with the pounds. Why play around with it?? We want to help you get healthy -- not compromise your health. Have you ever thought thay you may just be burning muscle with the pills. That only leads to failure. M.F. is a muscle sparing program. As Unca said "Don't mess with M.F."

elle..... ...I do understand your thinking as I have been there before.... :hmmm: ..But if I may add my opinion.... :secret: ....it is our thinking we need to change..... :whip: ....there is NOTHING... ...NOTHING...... ....NOTHING..... ... good about diet pills.... ...our minds seem to think it is the fix it to fast weight loss when really it messes with the metabolisim big time... ...I spent MANY years on & off pills............MF is perfect on it's own........ ......this was the first time in my life that I ever lost a good amount of weight in a very healthy drug free way........so I would say flush the pills and do what you know best.....STRAIGHT MEDIFAST.... ....I'll be praying for the mediangels to spread lots of magic weight loss dust your way!!!!!!!

 Huh?

What’s with that?

:whip: Tsk Tsk.

:x I would deep six those pills right away. There is no need for them whatsoever. :secret: I used to take pills and they really mess up your mind and your body.

I don’t see how you can hack the caffeine load; one 12 ounce cup of regular coffee gives me surges. Caffeine can sometimes increase hunger. I’d avoid sugar free mints and gum as well. Drink plenty of water and minimal diet pop. Remember, you can use several Pepcid or Tagamet each day, too to reduce stomach acid and the empty gnawing feeling that can occur during the first couple weeks on the program.

Elle, if you have your packets on time – like every two and a half hours, you should not experience hunger. If needed as you near the TOM, you could consider the Medifast Plus Women’s Health shakes or the MF Plus Appetite Suppressant shakes. I prefer the Women’s Health shakes – they have Medifiber which can help with bowel irregularity and also provides more of a feeling of fullness. They are a bit sweeter, too which can be satisfying. There are many wonderful varieties of herbal teas available now that are tasty and comforting.

Back away from those  pills.

MMMMMMMMMMM.... stay AWAY from the pills  ...Let me tell you about the pills. Years ago I heard about this "diet Dr" and went to him. The waiting room was full and I was so happy cuz "this must be the place and WOW, something is finally going to work"!!! :-P

The magic little pill.

Within weeks, 3 maybe, I don't remember how many, but I was really, really dropping the pounds. In fact, within no time I was almost at goal. And I kept taking the pills. When I was constipated, heres a pill for that. Opps, direaha...a pill for that. Can't sleep? I think a green pill. Sleep too much? Just a little red dot of a pill..... get the picture......

Well, I was 32 years old, about to remarry with 20 lbs to lose and desparate ..... And the pills were working............Up until one day at work, I woke up on the floor. My heart was beating like it was going to jump right out of my chest. My work had a medical person on duty and he asked me if I was on any medication??? Yep, and I showed him my colorful array of meds. He told me to stop them or I was going to die. I said, but how could that be? They are prescribed by a DR. Well, let me tell you...that DR is no longer in practice...not becuz of me, but a few months after my scarey episode , I read in the paper where after the death of a young lady, her family sued and the DR was no longer in practice. His license taken away.

Yes, in retrospect, I know it was oh so very, very stupid :dooh: to take the pills even tho it was an easy out and I looked great. But WOW, a lesson learned.

In "confessing" and rereading this, I know how stupid and I was as dumb as a rock but unfortunately, just as desparate. It was 27 years ago but the memory of it is as clear as if it was yesterday.

Elle, don't take them. I know you aren't taking them as I was, but still they are diet pills and I don't think any of them are safe. Just my opinion.

This is the way to drop the pounds. Stick with the supplements and drink the water. You can do it and thanks for listening.

;) ,
Evie
