I can chime in on the tax thing...it's okay, get proof of your return, the whole bank thing will work, and the bank WILL have a copy. We did a similar exchange of words with the IRS a few years back...

in a miracle of Gov. bs the return SUDDENLY showed up, and they COULD NOT understand what we were talking about, as of course it was always there, the clerk made a mistake yadayadayyada

Congrats on the size 12s. Last time I tried on pants in a store that's what I wore. I guess I should go back and try some on again to see if my size has changed. I haven't purchased any pants since the beginning of summer when I got some jeans and bermudas. I think the Zyprexa is a good idea for now until you see your doctor. I told myself I would never take Seroquel (also an antipsychotic) again either because I was taking it when I gained my 100 pounds in a year. But I am taking it again but only at night since it increases the appetite so much. I am on several meds that are known to promote weight gain but as long as I stick to my program it's funny-I don't gain weight. It's about awareness for me. If I take my Seroquel and don't go to sleep right away and feel like eating sweets I tell myself it's the drug and just drink some tea or water and try to go to sleep. I had to learn to do that after some mishaps.

Hey brooke, i know things have been looking down a little lately. keep your head up, things always work out in the end. One good thing is, if you know that you were entitled to a refund in 2003, even if you didn't file your taxes by mistake, you will not be charged penalty fees on money that THEY OWED YOU. If the return was not filed, they will just require you to file it. hang in there sweetie, things will begin to look up again. i know the irs is important but right now, your mental health is MORE important. take care of that first! i'm glad thru it all you are still able to post and get your feelings out. we will always be here to support you. whenevr you need a little boost, come here and read thru your great posts and feel the love and support that comes from everyone here. it may feel like a dark time now but its always darkest before the dawn. it's wonderful that you have such a supportive husband so make a committment to focus on the positive things. When you think that there are no positives to focus on, just take a look into you ds's eyes. Since you don't want to place an emergency call in to your dr's office just know that the proper meds are only a few days away (Monday)! Take care.

Oh, I also wanted to stop by and see how you are doing? Did you ever get into the doctor? How was Thanksgiving and traveling on a plane for the first time with ds?

I haven't gotten in to my pdoc yet. However, dh and I started marriage counseling (I know, aren't I just a basket of stability all around) last night and I sort of am getting some individual therapy out of that in a way which is very helpful--a lot of our issues stem from dh not understanding my illness, so there's a lot of talk of/addressing of my illness going on right now. I think I'm going to keep my regular pdoc appt and ask him to adjust my meds when I get there because I still feel I'm becoming unstable, but in the meantime I've got this other therapy going on too.

My first flight with ds isn't until Christmastime (we leave on the 16th). I read the airport was bad with your dd--how was getting through security with her? Once you actually got on the plane though, how was it?

Glad you like the Chuck Norris poster. I saw that on another poster's signature on BBC and copied it. I LOOOOOVE all the Chuck Norris jokes; I think they're hilarious. I don't even like Chuck Norris for real, I just think the campy jokes are hilarious.

Dh said nice to the Chuck joke with a laugh... :D

Phoenix wasn't a big deal. They let food and water through for her and I didn't have to claim anything. The only hard part was getting her out of the stroller so that could go through the machine. You know, b/c strollers have explosives in the metal.... she got really fussy/tired fussy once we were on the plane, but as we started picking up speed on the jetway, she was OUT! She woke up at the beginning of our descent and was perfectly fine. She only tugged on her ear a little bit, but it was not bad at all. I also choose to sit right in front of or on the wing row of seats. The sound of the engines helped calm her down. And then when she woke up she had something to look at. ;) But overall, it was a good trip, just long being med-less and dealing with the ontario, ca airport. (They were the ones that went through everything...)

Dh and I have gone through marriage counseling. Just find a counselor that is objective to both of you. Our's favored dh and critical of me... Dh still doesn't like to talk about my illness either, but he makes sure that I take my meds every night. So he may not understand it, but he makes sure I can make it through the next day. and we just got the newest tenative dates for his Jordan tdy... Dec 13-21. So we both won't be home the 13-16. And I was hoping for a break when I got home.... SHUCKS!!!

No problem. He seems to be working. I finally saw a little drop in my weight today after a lengthy stall (I only lost 0.5lb last week!). I lost almost as much today as I did the whole week last week, so we're off to a good start.

Wow. Dh and I got an interesting call today.

Back in 2002 he and I registered together for the DoD Bone Marrow Donor Registry. Well, dh has one of the more rare blood types (he is AB+).

Today we got a call from the registry and he is a potential match to someone who is in life threatening need for a bone marrow donation. He called them back and found out that he is one of only four potential matches. They said that normally the process takes a few months, but this person needs the donation by Jan, so they are going to be using an expedited method of harvesting the marrow.

He made an appt to have a blood draw next Tues so they can do the detailed testing to see which of the four potential matches is the closest. If it's dh, then he will be going to Walter Reed in Washinton DC in Jan for the procedure. The whole thing will be a permissive TDY for him (they won't charge him leave for it, his travel/travel expenses and travel for one companion will be paid for by the military.) He would have his choice of two different harvest procedures, one would be about three days and involve drilling into his hip, the other would be about five days and have something to do with increasing stem cell production in his blood and getting it from his blood.

Wow. What an opportunity to help someone.

That is an amazing oppurtunity. The curious side of me wonders who this person is. Esp with the gov't and DoD calling and footing the bill. What else is bone marrow transplants used for besides cancer?
(I knew a little 10 year old boy that had a transplant when chemotherapy failed.)

The only other thing I can think of is leukemia. According to the registry site, it can treat as many as 70 different potentially fatal diseases though.

As far as who it is, I don't know if the DoD Bone Marrow Registry only accepts DoD beneficiaries for transplant, or if it's available to anyone, but it's just DoD employees who are on the donor list.

Ok, I'm reading some news stories they have linked at the registry's website, and it doesn't sound like recipients of transplants are limited to DoD beneficiaries at all.

In the FAQ about the DoD program there is a question about "why the military":
2. Why are you targeting the military?
The military is the nation's largest source of whole blood donations and military personnel more so than any other large organization meet our strict health and age requirements.

In another section it says they have matched donors with recipients worldwide.

So I guess this is just another resource for recruiting bone marrow donors for those in need.

That is sooooo cool!! I used to work for a hospital and worked on accounts for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center for bone marrow transplant patients. It was sad at times because a lot of them are so young and passed on, but those who got good matches and lived - well it was great!

They say that they need a lot more minorities to donate ...I guess they have a smaller pool of donors. I should do it too!!
