fiber, queasiness, having trouble geting my meals in...HELP!

Postby lifelovinaries » November 5th, 2007, 3:24 pm

this is kinda long but please bear with me, i NEED HELP!!! OK, i was going to ask this question when it was just a fiber and meal trouble issue but now i have to add in the queasiness..

I currently take psyllium husk fiber 2x (4tbls total) daily because of sandbox issues. i don't remember it being a problem before on mf but it is this time. so...when i take the fiber, it makes me so full, i forget to eat my next mf meal. then i throw my WHOLE schedule off. by the end of the night, it's possible that i am trying to squeeze in 3 meals (no easy feat, i tell ya). But, i was getting them in. Well this past weekend (started on saturday), i was feeling kinda queasy, i was struggling to get my meals down and by saturday evening at 10:00 i still had 2 meals left to go but the thought of anything MF made me want to PUKE! i mean literally I was able to force down 1 peach iced tea (but now i think i am turned off from the iced tea FOREVER). Sunday, same thing except by 9:00 i had to drink tropical punches. Now i know that we are not supposed to eat (or drink) 2 meals at once, but i needed the calories, etc. This morning, i woke up, wasnt queasy so i thought it would be a good day. 8:00 am, i decided to mix my fiber with my oatmeal (big mistake ~oatmeal + psyllium = thick gloppy mess), but i ate it all!! Then i couldn't eat or drink anything else until almost 1:00 when i forced down a caramel nut bar. Well here we are at 5:20 est and i still have to get in 3 more MF meals and an L&G. Once again, the thought... So, what do i do? My previous schedule (pre-queasiness) was:
8:00 am - oatmeal
9:00 am - fiber
10:30 am - shake
12:30 pm - soup
3:30 pm - shake
4 or 5:00 pm - fiber
6:00pm - L&G
8:00 pm - shake, cold or pudding
still squeezing in 100+ oz of h2o (sometimes that's all i feel like having)

this was hard enough, add in queasiness and you have a recipe for disaster. Giving up the fiber is unfortunately not an option. I already don't consider myself a regular sandbox visitor. MF has worsened that. Any suggestions? Has anyone else experienced something similar?

And i woke up .5 heavier this morning, to boot! Go figure. :x

Try Miralax as a fix for your sandbox issues. It is a clear, no calorie , no flavor liquid you can add to any drink. Eliminates the fiber issue. I tried everything before Miralax and it was the only thing that helped.

Well, given your sandbox issues I'd say you can drop that pretty quickly when you figure out how to go :)

And if the Miralax works, which we hope it does.... the spacing issue can be resolved after that.

It is definitely not a good thing to double up on medimeals, but I have heard on the Nurse's call that in certain situations, if you need to have a 2nd medimeal after an hour, that is acceptable. Only on a need to basis though. This way you aren't pumping a bunch of carbs in all at once.

thanks biki, for the suggestion. I did a little research on it and i am really looking for something that can be used on the long term. This seems to be something that should be used only occasionally. i have had issues for YEARS, jeez, my freshman year of college, i didn't go for a week and ended up in the infirmary where i was administered milk of magnesia and sent back to my dorm. i then sat there sick of a dog, trying to figure out which end it was gonna come out of first!! WHAT A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I still didn't realize how "abnormal" i was until about 10 years ago. Since i "go" 2 or 3x per week, i could be a poster child for those speaking of people living with a clogged colon. Wow, imagine all that food...

Jeez mike, i hadnt even thought about the carb issue. i guess i never really knew why i couldn't put two meals together. i assumed it had something to do with spacing/hunger. Could it throw me outta ketosis? OH NO, something else to worry about.

I would still give it a try. I had issues for the first few MONTHS on MF and had IBS so bad in my 20's that I was put in an experimental drug study. I used Miralax for a week and have had no problems since. What have you got to lose? Gorgeous avatar by the way!
