Confession

Postby kmr » September 10th, 2006, 6:40 am

Hey guys!
I just wanted to confess.....I cheated. I do well all day long and then when everyone comes home from work and school and I start making dinner that's when I usually end up cheating. Once I cheat at dinner I figure "what the heck, I'll start again tomorrow". I want so much to just sit down and eat everything that everyone else is eating at the dinner table and not have to think about it. I know that it's wrong and I am not giving up. I'm back on plan today and will try to make it back into ketosis. Thanks everyone on this forum for being there. I know that we are all here to support one another.

Good for you for not giving up! I think it has to be difficult at dinner time, because you are used to a certain routine. But as you learn how to experiment and make your L&G legal but tasty, you wont be tempted as much. Hang in there and take it one dinner at a time.

Dear fellow losers, I must confess I had my first cheat also, since starting on 7/31/06. I had to go to a work function for our customers on a boat dinner cruise. The food was no problem. Plenty of veggies & salmon, but I must confess, I had 3 small glass of riesling wine. If not for the the social anxiety of meeting a bunch of strangers, I probably would have held strong. But, my oh my, did it taste so good. I am now back on the "straight" & narrow.
Going to restart Jun 2009, been gone since after surgery Oct06. Can't wait !

Confession is good for the soul & so is wine!!! ;)
The new Quick Start Guide states-"Avoid alcoholic beverages while on the 5&1 plan." While alcohol is best avoided, a glass of wine isn't the end of the world (jmho). I have been know to have a spritzer or two while on plan. I ALWAYS weigh less the morning after. I do not intend to start a firestorm and I well recognize the "slippery slope".
Point being, please, do not beat yourselves up after a transgression; just realize what has happened (and why) and move forward-Happy Sunday!

I know all to well how hard it is after cheating to get right back on....easier said than done. I am right with you though and together we can do this.

There is power in numbers and this forum is full of people who are supportive and there for us all so lets lean on them and get back into the wonderful world of ketosis.

It's so easy to hide these things under the rug and feel guilty, so WTG for admitting what happened. Just step back up to the plate and start swingin' again ~ You can do this!!!

You are doing so great. Keep it up and don't be too discouraged. I drank half a bottle of wine on my anniversary and will surely have more on my birthday. You are going to kick butt!!!

Everyone cheats now and again and probably again lolol. As long as you get back on plan you are going to do fabulous. The great thing about this plan is that it doesn't take very long to lose the weight so you don't get as discouraged when you cheat cuz you know in a couple of days whoosh the scale will be down some.

Dinner time is always a tough time, especially if you are having to cook for a family. I try and give them healthy choices too, but lets face it, if I'm making them have green beans and chicken, I think they deserve some bread too (hence they can't complain about the whole dinner, lol!).

What I do on some nights is actually do is make my plate up first, then have the rest of the family come to the table with their plates, and try and keep the foods I can't have away (like on the counter). For example, the other night I made spagetti for the family, with a side salad and dinner rolls. I then just made a "big" salad for me and put that by my place, so when they came to eat, they had their salads, and their spagetti at their plates, but I just had my one big salad. There were no serving dishes on the table, so I wasn't tempted to just grab a little bit here or there.

The other option might be (if you don't feel you have to eat with your family), is have your lean and green at lunch time, and just have a shake for dinner... if you can resist not eating off their plates, sit with them for the conversation with your shake (or soup?).

But you CAN do this, its hard but you can!!

Thanks everyone for your support! Everyday I feel like giving up because I just want to eat regular food. Not even junk food just "regular" food! On the other hand I want to lose the weight just as bad, so I have an "internal battle" going on inside of me. As someone in one of the other posts mentioned, we are eating almost like someone that has had gastric bypass surgery, except are stomaches aren't immediately made smaller, so I think it's actually harder for us. I haven't had gastric bypass surgery so I can't say for sure, but I would think so. The crazy thing is that no matter how many times I mess up or want to give up, I don't. I've never kept trying any other diet program over and over like I do this one. I just hope to be able to get to the point, like so many of you have, where I feel comfortable and don't feel like cheating ALL THE TIME. Hopefully I will get to that point , so that I can share in your successes and finally be at peace with my body, so that I can enjoy all the other MANY blessings that God has blessed me with. My husband will also be happy because he's getting really tired of spending tons of money for my M.F. products and then I don't stick with the program. I can't blame him for that! That's for sure! Thanks again everyone.

KMR, One thing I do is to stock up the fridge with "legal cheats", like sf popsicles, sf jello, dill pickles or sf bread and butter pickles, soy crisps, radishes & celery pre-cut and ready to eat, diet soda, crystal lite, or if I have to have a protein fix, I sneak a piece of that wafer thin sliced deli turkey meat and I roll that up and eat it. I find it helps to make your L&G meal as tasty as possible so you don't feel deprived. I make things like grilled lemon pepper salmon and asparagus, onions and mushrooms sauted in broth and sprayed with I can believe it's not butter and and sprinkled with a little garlic salt and pepper. How could I want to cheat with that as my dinner?

You can do this, we can do this together. These are not my words, but someone in this forum wrote that we should think of our supplements as our "medicine" that is going to cure our extra poundage........ I too have those moments and I cave in with "legal cheats" (i.e. pickles, those darn soy crisps.....) I am a true "emotional eater". I have a before picture of myself on my fridge and pantry with the words "The answer is not in here". Everyone eats for their own reasons and I think this process will help you find a new meaning for what it is to "fuel" your body.

Eat to live rather than live to eat.
