Cheating?

Postby macielnv » April 24th, 2006, 4:10 pm

There is something that I have been wondering about lately-

What do you consider cheating?

Is it a few nibbles of something 'forbidden"?

Is it not getting in all your supplements?

Is it having a "forbidden" meal?

I would love to see what everyone considers cheating.

I would consider cheating not following the Quick Start book which I was not  I had been only doing a 4&1 but now I am back to the 5&1 as I have started walking. I don't know that cheating is the right word to use as I have learned that everyone does things their own way and I guess it is an up to the individual whether or not they have "cheated"

I'd say all of the above. Not that I haven't done it, but it's all cheating in my book (although the 4&1, if approved by your doctor, isn't really cheating to me). Basically, any deviation from the program, unless ordered by your doc, is a cheat to me (or, as I prefer to call it, off-plan eating).

Hi

Postby dede4wd » April 25th, 2006, 9:59 pm

I'm pretty militant about the program. In my mind cheating is...

Anything that isn't in the quick start guide doesn't go in my mouth...

Last month, I absentmindedly put a cashew in my mouth while waiting for a hotel clerk. He showed up and saw me running for somewhere to spit it out as I realized I was CHEWING on something...that's how seriously I take it. I won't do ANYTHING to slow down what I consider the miraculous and life-changing progress I've made on my journey.

That's just one girl's opinion. There are many others on this forum. For me...I NEED to stick strictly to the program to succeed and not get dragged behind the wagon...again!

My first thought was anything that takes you out of Ketosis (which I guess would be anything not in the Quick Start guide).

Dede, I'm a spitter too! I put some cheese in my mouth once and spit it right back out!

Gillian ... Where'd your post go :?:

Personally, I think cheating is eating anything that is not in the MF plan.

One correction, BoPeep. It's not true that anything not in the Quick Start guide will take you out of ketosis. Fat and protein will NOT do that, which is why low-carb dieters are in far deeper ketosis than we are.

Anything that I did not purchase from MF and is not part of the approved L&G list is cheating to me. My son had McDonalds one day, his fries were piping hot and they sounded sooooo good as he was eating them. I HAD to have one. Needless to say, I took one, chewed it and spit it out. It satisfied the quick craving (all he could do was laugh and shake his head). Now I don't recommend this but I looked at it as a better alternative than eating half of his large fry. ;)
