woman's cycle question! Please help!

Postby tammyc » April 22nd, 2006, 8:03 pm

Hi all!

I was wondering if anyone had a disturbance in their cycle on medifast. The first month was fine and now I am a little nervous as I am a bit late. I have dropped 68 lbs in the last few months could it be that? I am just fearful of pregnancy. I dont want to stop medifasting. I just need a pg test to calm my fears. Let me know if anyone else had cycle issues.

Thanks!

Me personally, I was a week late one month and 10 days late the next...I don't know if it helps, but you might want to EPT to calm your mind. You've lost A LOT of weight and your body is adjusting...Let us know!

Estrogen is stored in your fat cells, so when you lose fat, you're freeing up a lot of estrogen. So yes, it can cause disturbances in your cycle; it can also make you more likely to get pregnant. Definitely get the test!

Yup,
Robin has it right. When we part with fat we do release estrogen . Estrogen is stored in fat cells. So parting with the pounds can increase fertility.

Hey Tammy,
I am with ya girl. Last month my cycle was a week late before I even started MF. I chalked it up to stress. Took a PG test - negative. This month and my first cycle on MF and so far I am 5 days late. Took another test and - neg. So I am just being patient. I know it's not easy thinking about the what if's but I am just staying positive and being patient. Hope this helped.

Yep, my cycle is different... I'm usually 22 days like clockwork... last month was 28 days...so I guess that would make me normal, but late by my clock. :)

That's good news. Just remember, you ARE likely to be more fertile as you shed fat cells. So if you don't want to get pregnant, you might want to be extra careful.

I agree with everyone here. My cycle last monty was around the 15th and mine just started today. I'm lucky that I didn't have to worry about pregnancy since my boyfriend is in St.Kitts and I'm in Canada!

I think when you lose weight, your body has to adjust itself and sometimes your cycle is affected.
