Hi,

I'm new to this diet and will be starting tomorrow. I'm so worried that I won't like the food. Are they good?

Hi Suzie
Everyone's tastes are a little different. Some love everything just as it is and others "tweak" a bit with it. There are lots of "legal" ways to tweak with things. Check out Lean Cuisine on the forum and you'll find many. Plus remember our tastes change. So just because something is not your favorite to begin with doesn't mean that you'll never like it. Just try it a little later on in the program and see what you think.
I'll be watching for you

Thanks a lot for the welcomes. This is a great place. I'm gonna need help and now I have somewhere to go.

Do you have to blend the shakes in a blender? Should you add ice?

Hi Suzie,
I'm just finishing day 2. The shakes shake real well, I've not used the blender at all. I don't like ice so I've just used cold water. They mix real well & the flavors I've tried so far are yummy. I'm not to crazy about about the chili but, I think it can become an aquired taste. I know I feel good & that's what matters most to me.

We can do this!

Thanks Lisa, Jan and Stella. I'm going to do this!

Ok, I'm off to try my very first shake. I'll be back with the commentary.

I had the strawberry creme shake over some ice. It wasn't too bad. I think I can handle it.

Suzie,

I'm following the full fast program which is 4 shakes, 1 oatmeal and 1 soup, every day.

I'll be honest, it sure ain't a McDonald's combo, or a Pizza Hut cheese crust pizza, BUT.... the program is designed to make you lose weight, not provoke a party in your mouth like those fast foods :x

Hmmm what I'm trying to say is that the food is, for a VLCD diet, pretty palatable, compared to my GF's past experiences with VLCDs. However, you can't expect the shakes to taste like those sweet-full drinks you get at restaurants.

Good news, though, is, when you progress through the program, you get tricks on making your food better (right qty of water, times in nuke box, ice qty in shakes, etc), and you develop your nose sense. You'll begin to smell those veggies, and actually develop a taste for them.

I guess it's part of the mental diet

Thanks Hyperion. I thought the diet was 5 MF meals and one regular meal. There are other options? Do you lose faster if you do only MF meals?

Woo hoo! I'm making the apple oatmeal cookies. They're in the oven right now. I licked the bowl! It was so good. This is going to be a great diet! I can feel it.

I'm going to try the chili for lunch. I've heard mixed reviews on it. Some people love it and others hate it. Maybe there's things you can add to it in the Lean cuisine forum. I better go look.

Yes, there are originally two options for MF:

- 5&1; the one that is most recommended
- Full; consists of 5-7 MF replacements a day

I know the protocol changed countless times, however my friend followed that last summer and lost 80 pounds in 3 months. I lost 59 pounds in 2 months and a half so far.

The full fast is easier to follow IMO, because you don't count, you don't weigh anything (xcept yourself!), and you are not tempted by real food. However, you lose all contact with real food, which can be a real emotional pain for some people (especially women, who seems to have a stronger attachment to food).

Officially, the 5&1 is as efficient as the full fast. I guess it's a matter of personal tastes, and also a matter of medical condition. A 21-year old guy is more likely to respond positively to a "harder-on-the-organism" treatment than someone older or with diabet or any other illness...

I guess you see my point there. However, the greatest difference resides IMO in the emotional treatment.

Thanks for the information Hiperion. I think I'll stick to the 5 & 1 program for now.
