Ugggh I HATE the scale right now!!!

Postby BumbleBee » October 5th, 2005, 5:55 am

Hey guys,

I HATE the scale :x The scale is BAD. This week I have seen in increase of 6lbs and more. I can't believe it  I haven't changed my diet really, although I have incorporated a MF carmel bar as one of my supplements and when I ran out of them I tried the granola bar. But I'm still eating the lean and green everyday which this week has been alot of Salmon and steamed broccoli. I'm not a real big water drinker, so I drink alot of diet green tea which is made with splenda and I have been forcing myself to drink water to make sure that I get it in. Please help, I feel like that little old lady that use to be in commercials back in the 80's-----"I've fallin and I can't get up" :| .

Bumblebee-- I'm with you. The scale is BAD! WHy not hide it for awhile? I've been on a plateau for nearly a month and NOT weighing is the only thing keeping me sane as far as MF goes. :)

I remember my scale going up and down like crazy the first month when I weighed everyday. SO much depends on fluids and trips to the bathroom and who knows what else.

Go over your program to make sure you're doing things right. Check the timing of your meals and really try to get more water than splenda down. Make sure you're not cheating even a little bit.

The salmon and brocolli sounds great! Are you measuring your portions for all your lean and greens?

How long have you been on the program? How are your clothes fitting? Looser? Do you feel energetic or lethargic?

Hang in there. I know it's VERY frustrating right now but it can't last for long. *hug*

" I'm not a real big water drinker, so I drink alot of diet green tea " I understand that this is made with water, however MF pushes the importance of water for some reason. I would really try to work some water into your schedule. Remember that PMS can add up to 10 pounds! Did you happen to purchase the Success in a Shaker Jar Book? There is a whole section in there on being "Hooked on the scale". It is very useful reading.

Please remember that weighing in more than once a week can really cause you emotional frustration. Do you really need that right now? I know personally that at first, my whole day was either made or ruined by what those numbers said. DON'T GIVE IT CONTROL OVER YOU!!! If you are sticking to program, those numbers will eventually come down. Please give your Health Advisor a call so you and he/she can go over your schedule. There may be changes that need to be made. I had to actually add a shake for my weight loss to increase! Believe it or not, there may be something that he/she might see that you could change. It's worth the phone call.

Hi Everyone:

Strawberry, that's good advise about the water and scale. I've been very very compliant, but my weight loss is still at a stand still. :x Grrr. But, I'm sticking with it, I'm not caving, but it is so frustrating. I think what I will do is after I see the next loss (I will take 1 lb!!) I am going to TRY (key word) to weigh only once a week...Sunday morn's for Roll Call. I don't know when it happened, but I am addicted to the scale.

Good luck to everyone for the rest of the week. We will push onward as remember our Christmas challange!!!! Remember the AFTER Christmas sales??? We all can go and get SMALLER clothes after Christmas and save money!!! What can be better???

;) ,

Thanks guys for all of your input. You brought some good reasons why this is happening to me. First being AF, I just noticed that it is almost that time matter of fact in just a day or two she should be rearing her ugly head  . And the whole water thing, I'll try very hard to do better, I promise. Does anybody know if I can add just a little lemon juice to help with the taste :?: It will surely help things. And that bad scale, well I guess I am just a little Scale Happy  and I'll try to do better. Thanks so much for your help I feel so much better already. :) . And like I've said before You guys are truely Awesome! :D

I think it would be fine to add a little bit of lemon, but be careful because this can have a diuretic affect on you. You are already on a program that can get a lot of water weight off of you, so just be sure to watch that you don't become dehydrated. I know that Nancy has mentioned that adding 1 drop of peppermint extract would be okay in a glass of water. It really helps with the bad breath we sometimes get while in ketosis. Good luck and make sure you talk to your HA ;)

YOU CAN DO THIS!

I think I read that a little squeeze of lemon is okay? Maybe someone knows for sure.

Don't feel badly-- I sure do understand the lure of the scale. :) I had to finally admit that it was just making me miserable. I'd wake up feeling great with good energy and postitive mood then I'd get on that scale and see the same number. Or up a half. It was so depressing! I think that mood affects weightloss, too (Just my own theory :) ) so I avoid that thing as if it were my ex-mother in law.

*laughing but really... if you only knew the lady...*

Hi BumbleBee! Oh yea I know how that scale can be!!!! try and stay off of it for a few days! especially until after that time of month is gone. Water is so important, do you add the sugar free syrups to your shakes? maybe try adding just a small shot to a tall glass of cold water. They have fruity flavors, the lime or lemon or even the raspberry would be good, idealy you should try and get the water down as is, but since we can add the flavors to our shakes maybe it wouldnt hurt to add a bit to water. Good luck and dont give up, it gets frustrating when you dont see the scale move after you have worked so hard, but it will eventually move again so keep shaking and dont let that nasty mean scale get to you :D

HI Bumblebee --

I too am not a big fan of lots of water, but if Green Tea is legal then I'll have it made. You might give the Green Tea a try too !
