Tragedy in my family

Postby sheila » April 13th, 2006, 10:04 pm

Hi everyone. I am sorry I havent been around for several days. I have really missed reading all of your posts. I received a phone call Saturday, and my mom told me that a very special cousin of mine(only 29 yrs old by the way), had passed away. Apparently she had an accidental drug overdose, but we wont know for sure until next week. Her funeral was yesterday. It was so hard. I livein Hawaii because my hubby is in the military, and had to fly to Missouri for the funeral. She and I were like best friends growing up. Closer than sisters. I never imagined the next time I saw her would be like this. Anyway, I am trying to stay on program, I brough shakes and chili with me, and Im drinking skim milk to help replace some of the meals. It was such short notice , my flying out here, that I had to grab what I could and catch the red-eye out here on Monday night. I dont know if I have lost any weight or not, I think I will weigh tomorrow on my Moms scales. Since I am staying at my parents house, I hadnt been on the computer yet, and really missed you all. Please keep my family in your prayers.

Dear Sheila ~

Oh, I am so sorry to her about your cousin! We will certainly keep you and your family uplifted in  prayer.

As we approach the holy Easter weekend, we are thinking of the glorious resurrection that followed the suffering, pain and darkness and that same resurrection is for those who belong to Him.

We have had difficult times in our lives, too when things did not make sense; we have struggled with that and yet we trust and know that all things are in His hands.

:pet: Kisskiss to you, Sheila. We know that you are doing your best right now.

Dear Sheila--

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

By all means, don't worry about the scale!! Your healthy choices have inspired me. In the midst of tragedy, you didn't toss all your hard work to the wind.

If it would be of comfort, my dad has a saying: Somethings never get easy, but they do get hard less often.

I'm grateful for the Great Comforter who is capable of providing peace beyond all understanding. I pray that He is moving among your family at this time.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers, it means alot to me. Thanks for being there to listen to me, too. It was late last night when I posted, I have found that the nights are the hardest. I am staying with my parents here in Missouri, until I go back to Hawaii on Monday. They go to bed pretty early, and I am still trying to adjust to the 5 hour time difference. It seems like it is late at night when everyone else is in bed that it is the hardest. But I do feel more at peace today, likely due to all your prayers. I am remembering her today in a better way, thinking of all the good times we had together. And not to mention all the grey hairs she and I gave our poor mothers(lol). Thanks again everyone.
