The REAL skinny on exercise...

Postby MARIE » July 29th, 2006, 4:06 pm

Question for you long-timers:

Has anyone lost weight on medifast, in the normal amount of time (2-5 lbs. a week), and NOT exercised abit?

I have always exercised when losing weight, but have been abit afraid to start back up (have been on MF 3 1/2 weeks) based on all the posts that say it has stalled their weight loss. We all know exercise is nothing but good, but just wondering if anyone still lost all the weight with none?

Thanks!

Marie :)

I started exercising and stalled, but was back on my way when I added an extra supplement a day.

I believe Nancy has said she didn't start exercising till she was at goal.

Hi

After about a month...I started walking. I try to do 20-30minutes a day, but I don't always...I try. I don't do anything strenuous, just walk to the gas station and store and such. If I do something really strenuous, I add an extra shake and my weight loss did not slow down. This is me. As I get nearer to goal, I am now starting to add a pilates DVD in a couple of times a week (goal is 4) for toning.

Sad to say, I keep meaning to, but just haven't actually gotten back into the swing of regular exercise. I still vow to once school starts back up and I am in my teaching groove.

I didn't start exercising until I had lost just over 100 pounds, I had been on the program about 8 months at that point. I stalled for almost 2 weeks but then the losses picked up and I could really see a difference in the inches.

There are lots of us who lost our weight without exercise. But, exercise is importan eventually. That's how we tone up our bodies. If you have a lot to lose, I would start exercising very gradually. Start with a little walking and work your way up. Remember though this program is quite low calorie soooo tooo much exercise will put your body into starvation mode and it will hold on to every oz. Forty five minutes is about all you can do. Plus the latest studies show that intensity is not as important as just getting the movement. So you can just walk...you don't have to run. :D

I should have added, I got stuck every time I tried to add exercise, so I didn't do much of anything until recently. Now, all of a sudden, I'm obsessed with it. Mostly Tae Bo and weightlifting.
