"On the Border"

I am going here tonight with DH- what can I get aside from fajitas? I planned on getting chicken fajitas with extra peppers, but if anyone has any great ideas, let me know!

I wonder if they have a Medifast Margarita?!?

Just looking through their online menu makes me hungry ;)
There appears to be alot of things there that are okay. Just ask for no rice or beans or perhaps have them substitute them for a side salad (that's what I do when I go out and starches come with a meal) or ask for extra veggies.
They serve lots of grilled items, just avoid tortillas and toppings and you should be fine.

Ok, I got the chicken and steak fajitas. No rice, no beans, no yummy guacamole, no chips and salsa...but it was still yummy!

You did great! I don't know how I would be faced with a basket of chips...especially if they were warm. I used to have this friend in Dallas and when we went to eat Mexican she would scoop out some butter from those little packets and then dip her chip in salsa. Apparently it was a common thing because when she asked for the butter they knew what she meant. They brought a HANDFUL of those little containers.

Especially those chips. If I recall their chips are like 1/2 tortillas and crispy to a fault.

Thank you!

And yes- they are the huge, hot, greasy, perfectly salted tortillas...

I hate to ruin the party here...but my son works at On the Border during the summers and their fajitas are cooked in butter. He won't let me get them when we go there. You can, however, ask for them to be cooked "dry". They aren't quite as tasty, but add them to a salad and use salsa as your dressing. VERY yummy :)

Hi

Postby dede4wd » January 23rd, 2007, 2:55 pm

Thanks,
That's what I do. I travel A LOT and have gotten VERY specific when I order, telling them I want things, plain, dry and steamed and generally tell them I'm picky but I tip well and they tend to take pretty good care of me at each restaurant!

Well, I guess that is it. As long as I am on medifast I can never ever ever eat out again.

Because every single time I think I did ok at a restaurant, someone comes in and tells me how I screwed up.

Oh well, I guess I cheated and I f----ed up my weight loss again.

Maybe if I eat water every time I go out, I will be ok.

I give up. Life sucks.

Thanks.

Do you think I could learn how to say that in Cantonese?

She's right! All we can do is make the best choices available and that's EXACTLY what you did! I think you did great! Don't beat yourself up! I eat out A LOT and wasn't trying to pick on you, just tell people about my restaurant experience, this is what I do!
