This "thing" reminds me of some caps that I knitted for myself when I was going through chemo a couple of years ago. They were called "No Hair Day Hairy Chemo Caps," and I used the "furry" novelty yarn to make them. Mine didn't have the "sideburns"; they were just caps that came down over my ears and kept my bald head warm when I didn't feel up to messing with Raquel (my wig). I had a pink one, a red one, and a "salt & pepper" one (like my real hair). When I'd wear them out in public, little kids would comment on my pink or red "hair." I had a lot of fun with them.

The blue hair above was actually part of a wierd hair contest that a chemo patient held for family and friends. She posted all of them on her blog which also told of her experience with chemo. What a great way to keep your spirits up during a difficult time!
