Unca,
I think that is fabulous. I quit 9 1/2 years ago. It will be 10 years January 1. (smoked for 14 years)
Just a few things that you can expect after you quit.

1.)You are going to be able to smell things from a mile away.
2.) the Food Taste a lot better
3.) Your whole attituted changes for the better. You feel so proud of yourself that you accomplished this.
4.) Smell of your clothes. (they really do stink) I never thought so, but now not smoking and going around people that do. Whoo Stinky.
5.) The Biggest Reason Ever. IS YOUR HEALTH. It is going to improve a million times.
You can do it. I am cheering you on. IF you need anything just ask

Way to go Tim!! It will be 10 years in October since I quit (just before my 50th birthday) and have never ever regretted it!! I will certainly be around to support you in your decision to be healthy--and to keep the environment healthy for those around you too! :D

I don't have asthma but I am looking to amp up my aerobic activity and smoking doesn't really go hand and hand with that. My husband quit cold turkey 4 years ago, the same day he quit drinking. Maybe one day I will too.

Get the book "Allen Carr's Easy Way to Quit Smoking". After smoking for 38 years I read that book and quit cold turkey. All it does is change your thinking about smoking but it works for a lot of people. Amazon and Barnes and Noble both carry the book. I haven't smoked sinc 2/06 and sometimes I forget I was ever a smoker, which is amazing for someone who smoked as much as I did. I really don't miss it at all.

Well, I DO have some patches that I bought to wear on the airplane to China. I look at them sometimes. When I'm bored.
