Spidey returns!

Postby LongWay2go » March 17th, 2005, 6:27 am

Hello all,

Thank you all so much for your well-wishes, thoughts and prayers. I spoke with the thin and fabulous Leopard Woman yesterday evening upon my return home to let her know I am back and I will try to catch up with life as quickly as I can. I hope to be back into my routine in a month or so.

I had three surgeries for what turned out to be a form of flesh eating virus so things were a little touch-and-go. The doctor said had I waited 2 more days to go in to the ER, I would have been months and months in recovery.

From what I've been told, most people with the level of illness I had are in the hospital 6-8 weeks at a minimum, so I consider 3 weeks to be a blessing and am healing quickly. I am receiving care from the VNA (Visiting Nurse Association) and am on a wound vac for 3-4 more weeks if I continue to heal at my current rate. The original estimate was 16 weeks for recovery but things are moving right along.

I'm understandably weak and taking things as easy as I can but wanted to let everyone know I am back and will catch up as quickly as I can!

Best,
Gerald aka Spidey

YAY!!! I'm so glad you're back and doing so remarkably well-- sounds like you're beating all the odds and breaking all the land speed records for recovery time! That's just wonderful. It just hasn't been the same here without you!

Oh Spidey, we were so worried about you! I'm glad you're home, and working on getting better now. And thank goodness you had taken off all that weight -- that could only have been a benefit given the medical treatment you had.

I, too, hope the hospital is forwarding your mail; my card went out of here a couple of days ago, from the other side of the country.

It's nice to see you around these parts again.

Welcome back Spidey!!!!

We are all so glad you are back and recovering in a spidey way!

Take it easy and listen to those nurses!!!

Take Care-

Spidey,

I'm rather new to the forum but I have been drawn into the lives of all the
wonderful people here. Your illness touched me and I hope to see you in full recovery! I will drink all my shakes in honor of you until your body is healed! I will call all the pounds I lose the "Spidey Pounds" in your honor!

God Bless and keep the spirit up!

Jane, that's a great idea! Why don't we all dedicate our lost flabbage at this Sunday's roll call to Spidey? Of course, we wouldn't want to *give* it to him, exactly, but you know what I mean. Let's see how many pounds we can lose for Gerald this week!
