Queenie~ I'm so glad you added an avatar.....it's so nice to see the people we converse with. It makes it seem like I actually know you!!!! ;)

My DH and I have this thing about the forum. He thinks I am so weird because I talk about you guys like we just got off the phone or something. I think he's started to get interested in your lives as well, because he'll say, "How's Pinks doing today?" or something like that. It's kinda funny.

Anyway.....I love the picture!!!

Thanks, everybody for your gracious responses to my avatar!

I should be writing a paper right now, but instead, I'm thinking about medifast. My thinking was prompted by Biki's updates where she includes how many days she's been on MF. I thought that was pretty interesting.

Has anyone given up on weighing and just tried to measure his/her success based on days compliant? I am an compulsive weigher and I'm getting tired of it. Since I'm convinced that the plan works, does it matter what day I weigh whatever it is that I want to weigh? I'm not trying to stop weighing myself altogether, I just want to see how long I can be compliant and I know the weight will be lost.

So I'm going to give my scales (yes...plural ) to the storage space in the garage for as long as I can. Is 80 days too long to go without weighing? This really is a rhetorical question since I know there is no harm in not weighing. I think it will be so much easier for me to be compliant for the next 80 days (making my total mf journey 100 days) than it will be for me not to weigh myself. I'll let you know how it goes ;)

How did I forget to journal about overcoming temptation today?

I usually have a research team meeting every Thursday from 11-1. Our PI won free lunch from Chipotle and she wanted the team to have the lunch. So yesterday she sent out an email telling us to let her know what we wanted off the menu. I put off responding for as long as I could. She emailed again this morning asking us to respond by 10 am with our food choices. So, feeling the pressure, I ordered a chicken burrito. I didn't want to be ungrateful and I knew there would be a discussion about why I didn't order food. I even tried to talk her out of having lunch for us 2 weeks ago since one of our team members is on a program similar to MF that is run through a local hospital. He is only supposed to eat the food provided by the program. So I reminded the team that we wanted to support him in his efforts and that maybe we shouldn't have the lunch. Well, obviously they didn't listen. He didn't show up for the meeting today.

Anyway, the food came and there was a burrito with my name on it. I told the team I would wait until later to eat. So for the next 45 minutes, they ate, stopping to remark about how good the food was and how it was just what they wanted. I sat there next to my burrito.

After the meeting was over, I had an RTD and took the burrito to a friend.

I should've just said I can't eat the burrito because I'm changing my life. But I didn't. Either way, I didn't eat it.

Sorry, but this line is CLASSIC  :roflmao:

Cheers to you for resisting temptation.

That line would be difficult (for me) to want to explain to a table full of people eating burritoes and NOT changing their lives :-P, but I am sure it could be done :).

I am going to have to stow that line away in my personal arsenal : "I cannot have that piece of bread because I am changing my life" ... hee hee. I LOVE IT !!

Good for you!!! Everyone in my family hates those burritos except me. I love how they are so stuffed you have to gut them and eat the insides out. That doesn't sound too appetizing, but that's the way I like' em! Just in case they do Chipotle again, they do have salads there and tortilla-free bowl burritoes. You could have lettuce, grilled chicken (which is VERY dry) and one of the tomato salsas. They also serve sauteed onions and peppers but I have no idea what they are cooked in so probably a pass.

Thanks for the suggestion, Biki. I wasn't sure what seasonings they used on the burrito bols and I didn't want to risk eating something I thought was on plan but then ended up not being. So it was me and my RTD!

Our team is planning to do dinner out somewhere soon but since our PI had a valve replaced in November, she is extremely health conscious so I'm sure she'll pick some place that will accomodate me.

Oh, and the getting rid of the scales didn't work seeing as I didn't move them. I was hoping they would give me a reason to keep them around by showing a loss but they didn't. I love them and I hate them. I hate them and I love them.

One paper down...one paper to go. I need some shakes that help me with my procrastination. If I was productive and losing weight at the same time I would be unstoppable! Image

Probably for the best. I hate eating something and then second guessing all day.

3rd week in. Lost 2 pounds this week. Down 13.5 total. During those times when the unreasonable part(s) of me says you should have lost 20 pounds by now, the reason part of me says "shut up you unreasonable thing you. If I hadn't been doing this for the past 3 weeks I would weigh at least 250 pounds. 234.5 or 250...which one do you prefer?" Then the unreasonable part(s) of me sulk off into some corner and realize that yet again reason prevails and 13.5 pounds down is great!

13.5 pounds is marvelous, Queenie!! In a couple of months you will see how even losing 2# per week will add up!! Keep listening to that rational side and rejoice in what you have done this far!! :woohoo:
