Plateau Busting..

Postby mellowmom » July 17th, 2006, 9:25 am

Well, after bouncing around within a 6 pound range for 3 weeks, I finally had some significant weight loss, 7 1/2 pounds in 8 days.

I'm not sure exactly what I did differently, other than the following two things:

1) made sure to have at least 2 shakes per day, preferably 3.

and

2) on days when I exercised, depending upon the exercise, added anywhere from 100 calories (extra shake) to 300 calories (snacks, crackers, soy crisps, or larger L & G meal)

Looking back, I can see where when I started exercising, my weight loss really did slow down. Once I added a few extra calories to support the exercise, I started losing again. I know it seems counter intuitive. But the Medifast literature is right on when it tells you that if you get too few calories your body thinks your starving, hunkers down and won't let go of any flabbage.

Hope this helps any of you stuck on plateaus. I know this has all been said before and far more eloquently by other members, but just thought I'd add my $.02 in.

Keep Shaking (and then some..)

Carmel I think that was my issue too. I was getting stuck when I had too few calories. Being that I cheated last night I dont know what's going on right now but... I was swimming and walking etc and those days I think my body was resisting because I really wasnt getting enough.

So glad you are losing again! I expect to see you on a MF commercial some day!!

Carmel, I have the exact same problem. I stop losing EVERY time I start exercising. I was already eating seven meals a day; right now I'm trying eight. I think I'm just working out too hard for so few calories.

I'm so glad your plateau finally broke Carmel! Yay!

Good job figuring out what was stalling you! Adding a shake helped with my first plateau too. Glad it worked!

Happy for you!
