Opinions please! High power SPANX

Postby Charity » March 12th, 2008, 12:59 am

Aloha Ladies!

Has anyone out there tried SPANX? I am really considering the high power style that goes up to the bust line but 30+ bucks is a lot for one underwear. If it does what it says it will, I'll buy ten ;) ! If is sucks, I will feel really cheated out of 30+ bucks!

Sooo......any advise?

Thank you in advance!

Well, they sort of work, but I didn't like the way they made me feel. I felt like a stuffed sausage. A size 6 and I felt fat.

Just to reiterate what Jo said twice, they sort of work, but I didn't like the way they made me feel. I felt like a stuffed sausage. A size 6 and I felt fat.

Hee. I agree, though. They're VERY constricting. And the one pair of Spanx pantyhose I bought got a run the first time I wore them. Never again.

Now, hold on. . . I have a pair and I LOVE them!! I think the sizes are too small, so get the next size up. Mine, when pulled up correctly, don't roll down. However, when I don't take the time to make sure it's evenly pulled up, yes, down it rolls. There's this roll-on adhesive you can get if you want, but I haven't found it necessary.

Keep in mind, though, that I was once a size 32 trying to stuff into size 28, so I'm pretty familiar with the whole sausage effect. Compared to other body armor undergarments I've tried in the last 30ish years, I thought they fit well, worked great, and were less constricting and binding. Nothing went numb; I walked and danced and bent and sat and stood again without giving any of those things or what I was wearing a second thought.

My suggestion: get a pair and try them. If they're not the thing for you, sell them on eBay.

I'm contemplating on getting them or something else. My stomach is also an issue. I'd like to be a bit smoother and not always worried about my rolls.

So.... I might be looking into them tomorrow (thursday) and see how much they are and if they are worth it. If they're pricey, then forget it.

Right now I'm willing to go to weird lengths to change my form. I have nobody to impress, but I would like to look better for myself.

Anyway, if I do get any tomorrow I'll be sure to throw my 2 cents in after I try a pair on.

Depends on your budget, I guess, but I think they're pretty darn pricey.

I agree, Robin. For me, though, it was worth it. They work better and are more comfortable than anything else I've found.

Oh, yeah, if you like 'em and are really uncomfortable with the way you look without 'em, they're worth it. These days I just suck in my stomach. A lot.

I love spanx! My sister and I went to Northstoms and tried them out and we both love love love the high power type shorts for every day wear.

They are having a sale on the 15th (you can pre-order) adn they are 10 bucks off! I have only 2 pair right now (I paid 34 each I think) and I preordered 3 more (23 each :D )

I am sooooo blue when the spanks are in the wash! I look at all my shirts in the drawer and think, "Hummm, no not that one without the spanx, no not that one either without spanks" Shirts that I never wore before because of rolls showing are now being used all the time due to my fantastic spanks!

I am addicted! They get rid of that below the belly button pouch and the muffin top over the jeans. They are so comfy. I feel more comfy with them on than without because it keeps my core in ever so lightly.

My only complaint is that they spanx are too long for short and so if you want high power spanx with a panty bottom instead of short, it will cost 70 bucks! Forget that!

OH, my sister convinced me to go one size smaller than the size chart recommends.

According to the chart I am well into the size c and I went with a b hesitantly.

I was glad I did. It's not that tight at all, and I have a low tolerance for tight!

So, I suggest, try both sizes out at the store :o)
