New inquiry on DaVinci particular flavors...

Hello all you shakey people!

On the DaVinci sugar-free syrups...

Tonight I saw someone mention Toasted Marshmellow flavor for the MF hot cocoa, mmmmmm..... Great idea since the MF folks went mad and pulled the poor marshmellows out! SIGH! (though they sure did vanish quick when you mixed it all up.)

After perusing the DaVinci website, I came across some I have not tried... My previous favorites were the Spice Blend (really good in chocolate shakes) and the Dulce de Leche (in oatmeal and vanilla & chocolate shakes).

Ones I tried and didn't like were the Chocolate, and the Peanut Butter. Both tasted very fake to me.

Did you try and like - love - hate any of the below?
And what did you add your flavor to?

Here is my New List of Possibilities to be reviewed:
* Gingerbread
* Butter Pecan
* English Toffee
* Cookie Dough
* German Chocolate Cake

I figure it's better to hear what some people thought before I toss out $7.99 a bottle plus shipping! ;)

I am definitely gonna get some of that Toasted Marshmellow! :grin:

Sarah..... :laughlaugh: ......you always crack me up.......you have such a wit about you.........anyway for the DaVinci's...........what does the Dulce de Leche taste like... :?: ...never heard of that before......and I always buy the Spiced Chai......I LOVE IT...... :hmmm: .......did I mention that I LOVE IT..........I just boil water and add some of that to it and drink it like tea..................yummm .......I like the rasberry....this summer I bought the sf lemon ice tea flavor and followed the recipe on the bottle mixing it with rasberry flavor, crushed ice........excellant........ :no: ......not to crazy about the caramel.......... :huh: .......a little sweet for me.........and by the way go to hughnetcom (fill in the www & the dot) they are much cheaper there......keep shakin

The Dulce de Leche is described as "This flavor literally means "candy of milk", the rich South American delicacy made by caramelizing sweetened condensed milk over very low heat."

I just find it very comforting, mild, sweet, milky creamy sugar tasting :)

The Spiced Chai Tea Concentrate looks intriquing..... hmmm! I do love Chai... I have a bunch of "real" herbal tea from, um, drat, musta brought it into work, Celestial Seasonings I think... and it's eh, not bad, but not as good as the stuff Indian restaurants make. Heheh, probably a lot less fat in the herbal tea Chai too... Might have a little something to do with it!

But then, I think I buy a lot of the Celestial Seasonings teas just for the amazing box art! :lol: I keep them in a basket on top of my microwave where I can appreciate their designs ;)

I will note the Raspberry/Lemon combo for summer, sounds awesome as a slushy or snow cone!

Sarah if you are a spice person you will love the gingerbread, not fake tasting at all. I put it in a vanilla shake.
I also love the hazelnut.

DV Syrups I tried but didn't like:
Irish Cream
Coconut
Egg Nog
White Chocolate
Vanilla was not that bad but still not up to snuff.
Raspberry in a vanilla shake looked like Pepto Bismal and was gross I think it had been discussed on here before.

Do they have a Marshall's or T J Maxx near you?
Peruse the gourmet section and I always find them on sale, $3.00 a bottle.

I have to get the Chai Latte and the Dulce de leche now, they were $3.00 a bottle last time I saw them.

I agree that the Peanutbutter syrup tastes fake. I am not crazy about the English Toffee either- I had put it in the cappaccino & also oatmeal cookies. The almond syrup was OK. I am finding that I like extracts better than the syrups- though there are not as many flavor choices. Some of my favorite extracts are: coconut, almond, orange, black cherry, vanilla, banana and maple. I love coconut and almond in the chocolate shakes it reminds me of an almond joy! I found the syrups in Homegoods for 4.99 a bottle-the extracts could be found in any grocery store. If you decide to go with the extracts, be careful to only use a few drops and add a little splenda to sweeten. EnjoY!

The Chai concentrate from Davinci's is wonderful. Before I bought the chai latte MF supplements I just blended a vanilla shake with a shot of the chai then heated on the stove to a nice warm temp. I added a bit more water than called for to stretch it out to 2 cups. The added sweetness of the syrup kept it from tasting too thin.

It was excellent! The blender gives you a nice froth which remains even after heating. It really tasted like something from a cafe.

I like MF's version but not as much as my own concoction. I think next time I'll double up on the vanilla packets and get the concentrate.

Butterscotch is my FAVORITE so far. It's sooooo good in the vanilla shake, tastes like an ice cream sundae! It smells like real butterscotch and tastes like it too.

Vanilla + Kahlua + Irish Cream Syrups = MF White Russian

Chocolate + Peppermint Paddy is good too.

Has anyone tried Blueberry, Butter Rum, Malibu Rum, Pineapple, or French Vanilla?

I keep a bottle of the French vanilla around. Sometimes I like to add more water or a LOT of ice to a shake so that I get a couple of BIG glasses out of it. When I do that, I sometimes add a little syrup to stretch out the sweetness/flavor. :)

I add it to my guy's NON-MEDIFAST oatmeal in the mornings and he loves it.

I have so many bottles of syrup on my counter that it looks like a bar. Really LOL! The pineapple is GOOD. I add it to other fruity shakes like banana or orange. I also add it to fruit flavored sparkling water. It's like a fake cocktail in the late afternoons. I've also used it along with a little soy sauce, ginger, a dash of crushed red pepper flakes and chopped green onion ...as a sort of marinade for chicken. It tastes like something I've had in Chinese restaurants--I keep looking for ways to "fake" my favorite dishes.

The coconut is good mixed with banana ..and in choc. shakes tastes like a Mounds bar.

The butter rum is good in vanilla. I haven't used it enough to have more suggestions yet. I bet it would be good in a choc. shake?

These syrups are great. They really fill a need in me to "cook" or come up with recipes--something I really like to do in the real food world. :)

Thanks for the tips, Betz. I have been wanting to try pineapple...those are some good ideas. I was thinking pineapple, Malibu rum (sugar-free syrup) + vanilla shake could be a tasty fake cocktail! Didn't even think of using it as a marinade - great idea!

I guess I'll do anything to make the one real food meal I eat a day...more interesting. :) Don't forget your grill--it's a great way to make anything taste like a picnic. I've been grilling my entire lean and green this week--vegetables included. Zucchini on some foil browns up a little on the outside, steamed on the inside and gets a little of that smoky flavor. Season away and you'll think you're at a bbq. Or maybe that's just my good imagination at work.

Yeah! Great ideas! We just bought a house (from apt) so now we can have an outdoor grill on our deck. It's coming today and I'm looking forward to bbq'ing my lean & green. The foreman is OK but doesn't lock in the marinades quite as good as a grill. Can't wait to test it out.

I don't know how many y'all like to buy at one time, but I buy them from "moonmama" on ebay. They sell cases for $4.75/bottle, so with shipping it comes out to about $7.40 per bottle. Still expensive, but cheaper than the davinci site.

Oh, and my favorites right now are lemon, banana, pineapple and coconut. Mmm mmm good. :lol:

Ooh, thanks for the eBay tips. I bought like 9 bottles from DaVinci's site for about $80 and change. Sounds like moonmama is a better deal!

T.J. Maxx had a new shipment of the Davinci SF Chai Spice concentrate for 5.99, I got it last night and it is my favorite by far.
