mixing protein in L&G

Postby glitterynile » August 16th, 2006, 8:38 am

I was wondering can you mix ur protein when you have ur L&G? Like 4oz chicken and 3 oz of tuna? or any other combination within the weight range? :D

I thought u can as long as it comes out to the right amount but i wanted to know if i could before hand.

I want to make a dish tonight w/ chicken and shimp and didnt want to mess up.

Thanks!

It's fine as long as it evens out to the proper portion.

i wanted to cook something iranian (i'm persian - well half techinally! )

so i'm making....

Chicken and Shrimp Kebabs spiced with saffron and a pinch of turmeric - for my lean
and....
Tomato and Cucumber Salad with Lime Juice/Mint Dressing - for my Green

very yummy, i do however miss the rice and mint/cucumber yogurt. Well I'll have that when i hit goal!

next time you make your add saffron to the recipe! Its's so yummy, be careful, not 2 much - also it can stain clothes and the counters. But nothing a little beach cant fix.

Just remember that the rations of some things are different. With chicken and fish its okay, and with beef, pork and lamb its okay since you can have the same number of ounces of those groups.
I have been told to be careful when mixing meat with egg and/or cheese though. It gets to be difficult to get the right combination. ;)

I asked the MF nutritionist about cheese and was told 1oz of cheese = 1 oz meat. The problem will lie in if you are eating cheeses that are typically measured in volume. I only have brick cheeses so those are easy to mix and match.

I do half and half so there's less figuring. So if I had, say, beef and chicken, I'd have 3.5 ounces of chicken and 2.5 ounces of beef. Or 3.5 ounces of chicken and one egg (not that I usually eat chicken and egg together, but you get the idea).

That reminds me.......I like egg in my tuna salad and it works great because a can of tuna weighs about 3.5 oz.

So wait. I can have 3 oz of chicken and 4 oz of cottage cheese at dinner, with veggies, right? And 5 oz of chicken and 2 oz of LF mozzarella and a side of cooked tomatoes? Yum
