Last Night at Work ...

Postby Arklahoma » June 25th, 2006, 1:06 pm

Most of you know that I've been job-hunting for a while, so I put in my notice a couple of weeks ago and tonight is my last night at work. The emotions that are flying around in my head are many and I'm just feeling a little "weird" right now. I really like the patients that I work with and the people that I am with (well, most of them), but I'm also very ready to start the next chapter in my life (moving from bedside nurse to nurse manager). I currently work weekend nights, so I'm pretty thrilled at the possibility of having a "regular" sleep cycle very soon. Hopefully, you guys won't see me posting at 3am, anymore LOL.

Enjoy your last night. I did not know you had already turned in your notice. I just hope that I soon will be working, and looking forward to the new chapter in my life. I am still eager to hear about the offers!!!

Aw, I'm happy for you, Ark, but I'll be sorry not to have another night-shifter around here.

I didn't tell anyone other than my direct supervisor, until last night. Everyone was stunned, to say the least but I know I made the right choice. The last thing I need right now is a big going-away party with tons of food.

Off to save some lives!!!

Actually, I'm already in Cleveland, so you'd better watch out ~ LOL!!! One of my possible job opportunities is in Akron and one is in Columbus.

Thanks, everyone!!! My last night at work was very emotional ~ actually, I'm still kind of emotional about it. I am from a small city in Arkansas and I actually moved to Cleveland specifically to work at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Open Heart Recovery b/c of the facility's reputation (#1 heart center in the US and probably the world). I am very proud of the institution and the work that I do, so this transition has not been as easy as I had hoped it would be. Don't get me wrong, I know that management is the right move for me, I just wish I had been able to do it at The Clinic.

Even though everyone and their dog knows that I've been eating no real food for over four months, people brought food for a congratulatory celebration. I was able to resist for about six hours and then I caved. I've not really been able to get back on the plan fully yet so keep your fingers crossed for me. I'm just on an emotional roller coaster ride, right now.

Ark, You'll get back on the plan! I know you can do it! Now that I know there are more of us around here in Ohio we should see about getting together some evening like the folks in Arizona do :)

You can do it, Ark!! I fell off during my big move, too, and it took me a few days longer to get back on track than I expected, but if I could do it, so can you! At some point, you just say "enough!" and make yourself do it. Same as you did in the beginning.

If you start back now, you could be down 10 pounds by the time you start your new job. And how nice would that be?
