Just Starting Medifast 7/17

Postby Lasi » July 19th, 2007, 8:29 am

Hi !!

I have started on the Medifast program through my doctor. I have lost 5 lbs since Monday. I know it is probably water weight, but I feel better already.

I have been lurking, reading and learning from this site. It has great information. I am looking forward to being here.

I am 50 years old and have been trying to lose weight for 8 years. I have lost and gained. I am tired of doing that. I haven't lost any significant weight and at my highest right now.

I am finding the meals I like and the ones that I don't. I am going to stick with this!! :D

My doctor tells me 126 lbs but I want to lose more than that. I will just take it as it comes though. Need to stay healthy.

I am having a hard time getting in all 5 meal supplements. After I eat dinner I don't even want to think about eating or drinking. I usually will drink water.
Sometimes I don't eat until 8pm. I eat a bar at work about 4ish. I go home at 5 and usually take a nap. When I get up I eat dinner.

Will it mess me up not to have all 5?

Welcome. Yes, it could definitely hurt you to not get all your meals in. What time do you go to bed? You can have that last meal as late as you want; forget the normal diet rules about not eating after a certain time. It might also help to have one of the less-filling supplements then - maybe a pudding, as a dessert, or a hot cocoa.

You could also try spacing them a little closer during the day, if you don't stay up that late.

Welcome.

This program really works, but please follow it as outlined. Be sure to get in all 5 plus your L&G. You don't have to wait till dinner for your L&G. Maybe if you had it for lunch you would have an easier time getting in the rest of your supplements.

Drink that water! :)

I used to go days at a time only having 4 supplements thinking I was helping myself, especially since I wasn't hungry. Almost every time this resulted in my going off-program. Starvation is starvation. Eventually I would wake up one morning and be ravenous and out of control. I finally figured out that the plan is like it is for a reason, and if I can't follow the rules when they are as easy as 5-1-water what hope did I have when I was on my own?

Thanks for all the advice. Today I will have all of my meals. I am drinking 100 oz water.

Weekends are harder for me to get my water in, but I will at least get 64 and try to get more in.

I really like the plan, it is so easy to do. I am really excited about it.

The water gets easier. I try to split mine up and not look at the total. Like, start by having at least one glass with every meal and maybe two with your L&G. I just kept increasing it and now I drink 15-16 glasses a day, even on maintenance.
