How late should we eat our final meal?

Postby ascicles » March 13th, 2006, 12:28 pm

This question has two parts.

First, is it ok to have your lean+green as your final meal of the day? I think I remember reading something about that not being a good idea, but I can't find any documentation.

Second, how late should I eat my final meal? I've been eating a pudding about 30 minutes before I go to bed (although I do watch tv for about an hour before I actually go to sleep). Is that ok?

I would avoid having the lean and green or the bar as your last meal, but having a pudding before bed is no problem. This isn't like other food plans, where you want to avoid eating in the evenings or close to bedtime.

Awesome. Thanks.

I wish I worked just a little different schedule so I could fit things in differently...but this is the only way I can do it so far.

Hey, you're talking to someone who works nights. My first meal isn't usually till 11:30 or noon, and my last one is somewhere around 2 a.m.

The plan is pretty adaptable to different lifestyles.

Hey, Ascicles-

I totally have my final MF right before bed, and it has never proven to be a problem. Like DogMa, I don't usually eat my lean & green as my last meal, nor do I have a bar last - except sometimes when I am out really late on a weekend night, and it's the only way to get in my final MF meal.
But I absolutely have an RTD or oatmeal right before bed - it helps me because I've always been a nighttime eater, and it provides some comfort to me.

I can see that you are being meticulous with the diet, and that's great. Keep doing what you're doing, and I PROMISE you will be pleased and impressed with the results. Don't worry, there's no conspiracy here, we really are losing dramatic amounts of wait quickly - and you will too!

Keep on keeping on!

I'm on a pretty easy to remember schedule:

0600 - Oatmeal
0900 - Shake
1200 - Soup
1500 - Bar
1800 - L+G
2100 - Cocoa/Capachino/Shake

Weekends sometimes slide a little if I don't haul my butt out of bed on time.

I have a hard time spacing my meals out every three hours. Here is how I have been going...

8:30 - Wake up
9:30 - Get to work - Hot Cocoa
12:00 - Bar
2:30 - Shake
5:30 - Shake
8:30-8:45 - Lean and Green
10:30 - Pudding
11:00 - Bed

On weekends, I tend to go like this...

Noon - Wake up
12:30 - Hot Cocoa/Shake
2:30 - Bar
4:30 - Shake
6:30 - Lean and Green
8:30 - Shake
10:30 - Pudding

I will usually space it out a bit more (2.5-3 hours between meals) if I have the next day off. This is the schedule I would use if I have to work the next morning.

With the way my work schedule is, the only way I can not have my lean and green as my final meal is to space it this way. I know that the rule is to space things out every 2-3 hours, so I hope that it is ok if my final meal is occasionally a bit less than two hours.

Lauren is right, I am meticulous about things like this. I feel that if I am going to dedicate the time and money to this diet, I want to make sure I am doing things perfectly. At times, I know I should just chill out and not worry about being so perfect...but I've always been this way.

You sound just like me. I personally think that in this situation (Medifast) it is the right way to think. I always say if it is not in the Quick Start book it does not go in my mouth!
