It's Guido!

Postby explorthis » January 3rd, 2006, 12:25 pm

Greetings!

Guess who is back!

Some of you probably know me, many of you will not. I am Mike. (I have posted hundreds of times) I originally joined this board back sometime in 2003 (Sept I think) at a weight of 337# Miraculously in about 4 months, I lost 114 pounds on Medifast and kept if off for about a year. Well, old bad habits don’t dies easily, and I have gained about 40 pounds of it back. So, without further ado, I am back for support and help, asking to be allowed into the fold again. I have not posted in almost a year, thinking I had done my part, and the weight was gone. I feel support is a NECESSARY tool to succeed, as this board provides. I don’t know how much I am going to post, but I feel the need to be a regular again!

So, today marks day 2 for me. I think it will take approximately 45-50 days (of the full fast) for me to lose this 40# (based on prior success) I will keep you posted on my progress, if of course you will have me!

I will update my signature soon. (Not stepped on the scale for the actual number yet)

Mike (or Guido to those that remember me!!)

Welcome back!! :D :D

I read some of your posts, and a lot of people here talked of you as "the man" in the board!

For a while it's been only me, and now there is Ron.

Always nice to have a third one around :D :D

Now let's rock this board  ;)

See ya posting soon!

Mike, you are famous here! Whenever I need extra boosts, I read through archived posts, and you are a dominant feature. I am happy for you that you are aware of your, ahem, upward trend, and have made a point to come back and realign yourself. I was hoping you'd have a forever success story, and we all love to believe in fairy tales, but the truth is that your experience is a more honest one, and should teach us all to not let our guards down.

Perhaps, when you feel comfortable, you'll let us know if there were little triggers or signs of things coming undone. I remember yours was a weekness for the beer, still the case?

I know you are a veteran, and I have only been on MF for just shy of 8 weeks, but if there's anything I can do to support you, reinvigorate you, or slap you upside the head - please let me know.

Welcome back!

Thanks for the info, Vicky!

:whattha: Oh, Hunny! :whoohoo:

I have SO missed you (it has been almost a year since we met up-close and very personal like in The Thin in Vegas!) and I have SO needed Guido around here. :whip:

Please, drag the :whip: Guid out - he is a necessary part of life in the weight loss lane.

Yes, Lauren, sometimes we all need a slap upside the head! :dooh:

Confessions from the Leopardy One - back on the program myself after a very foody two months. :shades:

No excuses here, just an overactive fork.

Food cannot rule!

We must not allow it! :whip:

Mikey, I know you will be losing it very soon.

Many, many thoughts here, which I will post as they come to mind. First and foremost, thanks for the warm welcome. I have thought numerous times about coming back home (here) but the stupid side of me was just too egotistical to come back. Even as I saw the weight creep back, I still remained stubborn. NO MORE. Support helps, trust me.

Hype – as for rocking the board, yes we can. I used to stir up a boatload of responses in the past, and perhaps in the future (relax Tim – I will be careful!!!)

Lisa – no, It’s Mike, however at times, I act like a Guido!!

Vicky – Yes, I know Jeanette well, I heard from her about a month ago; hope to hear from her again. Interesting how you become friends with unknowns on this site. I am still in contact with some. Some of you know Gerald (Spidey) we remain in regular daily email contact, I have even become great friends with one of his friends, and we have never met!!

Lauren – triggers? Yes, there are many. As I get more acclimated on the board over the next few months, I will regale as many as I possibly can (trust me, I am man of MANY words)

The one thing I CAN tell you is that Medifast, and support, from folks experiencing the same things are the answer! Trust an “old sea dog” on this.

Nancy – I WILL LOSE IT, I PROMISE!!! When you say “nothing tastes as good as thin feels” you are 1,000,000% correct!

Nancy and Mike -

I think anyone who hasn't realized that this is a lifetime effort has been wandering in a bit of a thin fog.

I think the comfort is knowing that MF works and that if you just get back on board, you can turn things around pretty efficiently. The worst thing we can do is get too complacent, and sort of "forget" to be on guard, get too comfortable, and start gaining. That's happened to me before, and I really don't want it to again. But, alas, it's our albatross, right?

Nancy, everyone needs a little support sometimes, even you - a true success story of MF. Feel free to vent if you need, or log on for some love. Don't forget, the students sometimes teach the teacher! :-)

The fact that you came back is a testiment to your commitment to being healthy for life. You are still 70+ lbs lighter than when you originally started so don't feel too bad. Welcome back and let's all support each other, we can do this. I just started, day two for me, lost 2 lbs first day (I know you're not supposed to weigh yourself but once a week but I couldn't help it). I need motivation and support & plan on posting often.

By the way, Mike, I love reading your emails because you are a no B.S. kind of guy. So keep 'em coming. Even after you lose the 40+ pounds (which you will, no problem), I hope you'll hang out around the boards more often. The Guido side is most useful, bc we all need a reality check sometimes!

Cheers!

Lauren ~

 Yup, you are very right! True teachers always learn from their students.

This weight management thing takes some getting used to.

For many of us, being overweight and turning to food for whatever reason has been a part of our way of life longer than being at a healthy weight.

I have never told you that it is easy; Medifast makes it easier, but this is a daily battle, Peeps.

Daily. :x

:coach: Now go out there and shake it off!

Mike:

Welcome back. I enjoy reading your posts for encouragement. You are so inspirational....thank you. This site is the best isn't it?

I too had a too active fork during the Holidays and now I'm back to reality and dealing with the weight gain. Not much of gain (it could have been worse) but I was out of control for a few days and it's tough getting back with it. Yesterday I was having a "PITY PARTY" and considering going off the program. I was really struggling but today I came to my senses. I also talked to my advisor ....and he said (of course) that would be the worse thing I could do!!! He is soooo right.

Well...sorry for rambling. But I need this site right now....it's so much better being on this then on food...........ya know?

Thanks for listening, ;)

Mike, it's good to see you! I'm so glad you are back! We've missed you! And we know that you will have that weight off in no time -- this program works for you like magic, it seems.

Now, does anybody know where Gerald is???
