Girl Scouts

Postby LovenElvis » February 17th, 2006, 6:51 pm

Ok...how many of you are struggling with Girl Scouts hanging around at every story?

The bad part is that I have one at home to :?

I took in the cookies to the ones who ordered at work this morning and I'm telling you...they were eating my 0900. I have to admit I had a small desire to have one, but I just ate my smores bar early.

I have been giving the ones that I ordered away!

Yeah, I had a fleeting thought about buying some Thin Mint cookies on my way into the store . . . and on the way out, I just made a small donation. No cookies (*sigh*), but I still feel good about supporting them. Good thing my hubby didn't come home with any . . . might have been cause for him spending the night on the couch!!

Just kidding.

Well, mostly kidding.

Thin Mints

Postby Jan » February 17th, 2006, 8:39 pm

Hmmmmm
The chocolate mint bars taste almost like thin mints -- enough to cure the craving anyway. Just eat one of those!! I love the mint bars -- to me they taste just like "after 8" dinner mints. Yummmmmy. All the time I was walking around Disneyland I could smell the popcorn -- gerrrrrr -- I love it -- but was able to resist -- would have killed my stomach anyway. :? We'll all make it :D

We bought some while we were in the thinnin' process and froze them until we were at maintenance - then we rationed them - Yes, Folks! There are cookies after the weight loss phase; we just cannot eat the whole box at one sitting.

I used to eat a whole box of the Trefoils (Shortbread) and Terry ate a whole box of the Thin (there's an oxymoron for you) Mints and a box of the Peanut Butter Patties...now you know why we were porky...

You know when we got around to opening the box of Thin Mints and eating them, they really didn't taste that great :redhead: and I didn't even finish the ONE I bit into...

Add a skosh of peppermint extract or some Peppermint Paddy Sugar-Free DaVinci to your Dutch Chocolate shake and you'll have a REAL THIN Mint!

LovenElvis ~ I just want you to know that I think you are  for standing up under that temptation and resisting the call of the cookies - see? You really ARE a Medifast :goldstar:!!

Good for you, LovenElvis for making such a wise choice - you are closer to your goal as a result of saying, "No, thank you, not right now, maybe later!" ;)

Thanks Nancy for the support. These cookies are everywhere

Everytime I leave a store and people around me :)

However, I just grab a bar and I'm good to go!

In a moment of non-Medifast weekness some lucky guy at work hit me up with orders for his 2 girls that were both selling. Well since last year we ah heam, ran out, like we needed any more... I made sure to order pleanty this year. Next week I will have 20 boxes showing up at my desk. I will ration a box of my favorites in the freezer otherwise I will be the hit at any fuction I go to in the next month. "oh you want me to bring a dessert, sure 2 or 3 boxes of girl scout cookies?" Save me the trouble of cooking too :)

Some how getting rid of the cookies shouldn't be a problume. The sooner they are out of my house the better off.

Good luck everyone

Toooo funnny

Postby Jan » February 20th, 2006, 9:07 pm

Oh Aphrael.,
That is just tooooo fuunny!!  20 boxes of cookies showing up on your desk. That is something we would dream in a nightmare. Good for you and your resolve to just take them to events. I'm glad you're saving a box of your favorites in the freezer. You'll be able to eat them one day. Of course sometimes I have needed a lock -- a padlock with the key in my trusty skinny hubbies pocket-- on my freezer door. I've eaten frozen cookie dough and frozen cookies too. Oh my goodness -- but no more!!

I just can't say no to those cute little girls! Any kid that's selling knows I'm a pushover, lol. Plus we have employees with kids, sooooooooo......

Anyway, I have 6 boxes sitting right here beside my desk. They don't tempt me in the least. To me they're gifts......for my son's birthday......the employees break room......an especially thoughtful client.....they'll be gone in no time. Like Aphrael says, I'm sure to be a hit!

Aphrael, as your sister-in-law I must advise you against taking the cookies to my parents house or our house! I have four boxes of unopened girl scout cookies on my counter, looking so colorful and fun... but after putting one or two in the freezer I will instruct my active hubby who seems to be able to eat anything he wants to "fall on the grenade" for me :-)

You know what? When I was in the weight loss phase, I avoided the grocery stores as much as possible and I didn't have to face those cute little faces face-to-face but once. Then smug me, I got hit up at church - we bought about 10 boxes, froze them and just as Aphrael suggested, took them to functions rather than baking other goodies.

I just look at the label and read the ingredients when I think I might want to eat something - when I read words that I cannot pronounce, I think, "THAT can't be too good for me," so I am not as tempted to eat it. When I read the front of a box - the description of the product, THAT is where I start to weaken so I just flip the box over, read the REAL contents and then I'm not craving them any more!

Aphrael, get those 20 boxes outta sight real fast! Do not take them to Evie's either!

Actually, each of those GS cookie boxes represents one of the pounds you've worked so hard to lose. Just think! Over the lips, and they could all be sittin' on your hips!

Be vewy vewy cawefwul, Folks with GS Cookies!

Nancy - That's a great idea! Ignore the front of the box with the pictures and go to the back where the ingredients are. I'm gonna do that!

You ladies are so funny

It was a little harder this week to resist them, but I did. My hubby is out of town and I'm working over hours and kids have homework and I have homework. Now I'm dog sitting two other dogs ...but you know I just had an extra bar the other day.

I know that we aren't suppose to have more than one bar a day, but it was way better than those cookies!

I keep getting asked if my daughter has any extras, so I just give them the "extras" that we bought.

Each year that we sell them, I always have a big note on there that states "They Freeze Very Well!". This way people may not feel so guilty and know that they can still support the girls!

Hey I have an idea!! Why don't YOU set up a little table down the street from the Girlie scouts...(they really are evil you know... all that cute and suger too...) and have your sign say... FREE COOKIES....I mean with 20 boxes you have enough to at least get you thru the morning!!--and hey...I could send you the 15 boxes that I ordered at school!!!
