Funny Poem

Postby star85 » June 23rd, 2004, 5:02 pm

This is a poem meant for the holidays, but I liked it so much I figured I would post it now. It made me laugh a bit.

The Month After Christmas

T'was the month after Christmas, and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.

The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste
At the holiday parties had gone to my waste.

When I got on the scale there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store ( less a walk than a lumber).

I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,

The cakes and the pies, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."

As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt

I said to myself, as I only can -
"You can't spend another winter disquised as a man!"

So, away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip

Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
Till all the additional ounces have vanished.

I won't have a cookie, not even a lick.
I'll only chew on a long celery stick.

I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll slurp on a SHAKE and quietly cry.

I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore...
But isn't that what January is for?

Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!!

Excellent, Kelyn! And along the same lines. . .

Diet Facts

It's not the minutes spent at the table that put on weight, it's the seconds.

It's something most of us do religiously: We eat what we want and pray we don't gain weight.

The problem with curbing our appetites is that most of us do it at the drive in window of McDonalds.

Sweets are the destiny that shapes our ends.

Diets are for people who are thick and tired of it.

The toughest part of a diet isn't watching what you eat. It's watching what other people eat.

Most people gain weight by having intimate dinners for two...alone.

One guideline applies to fat and thin people alike: If you're thin, don't eat fast. If you're fat, don't eat - FAST.

Come on, guys, add your favorites. Maybe we all just need to lighten up a bit--so to speak!

I love it. I adding my 2 cents (as usual) with a slight ending change…

I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll slurp on a SHAKE and quietly TRY

A try I shall make, no longer with cake,
For eventually this shake will take away the weight

The weight almost gone, the biscuits still there,
I stand on the scale, I did not fail!

Medifast is the blessing, not the full fat dressing,
The clothes they now fit, no longer at ends wit.

365 days a year, I no longer fear the spring of the scale.
With my new found knowledge I WILL NEVER FAIL.
