Hi Everyone!

I have been wanting to start a journal for awhile now, and I just "re-started" today, so no time like the present. I decided to start on a Sunday so I can be on schedule for Sunday Roll Call. I need some accountability in my life!

I first tried MF about a year and a half ago (Nov. 2005) with great result: 16 pounds down in 3 weeks, then I stopped (why??). My pants were falling off of me, I felt great, I got tons of compliments, and I had so much more time to do what I wanted as I wasn't spending hours a day in the preparing/eating/cleaning up of meals.

What happened? I was about to move into the next size down in my closet when I took a break at Thanksgiving (Note to Self: Do Not Stop MF Right Before the 2 Month Feasting Season).

Well, I gained my 16 pounds back and have been unsuccessfully trying to restart since then.

The bad news: I woulda been at goal long ago if I stuck with it!

The good news: I loved MF and know it works! It was so easy, and I felt great on it, so I am thankful for that lesson learned.

Anyway, after a few false starts between now and then, I am ready to recommit. I love reading everyone else's journals and think it will be a helpful too for me. I'll post more later but wanted to get started on this....sometimes starting is the hardest part!

I know the program is healthy. I have seen the impressive results achieved by all the MF Veterans on this site. I think if all these other people can do it (many with lots more to lose then me), so can I. I just need to turn myself over to the program and stick with it, so here I am again.

I am 5'2" and weighing in at 179 today (down from my all time high of 186). I'm 39.....40 is closing in on me, oh boy! I used to feel young, attractive, energetic and full of life. Over the last several years, I've felt like a slow moving blob, out of control with my eating habits, lack of exercise and steady weight gain.

I want to get my body in shape, and improve my health (hi cholesterol alert) but more than that, I want my old perky personality and confidence back. When I am in shape and eating right, I feel good, so that is where I am starting.

My plan is to be at my ultimate goal by my 40th B-Day in November. Not sure if that is realistic?

I have a lot to lose for my short frame. My ultimate goal is 120, so I've got 59 pounds to go.... Being 6 months away from turning 40 is putting my situation in perspective and giving me some focus. I want to be my best self for the rest of my life! I feel the years slipping away, and I want to enjoy the future without being tired, embarrassed, self-conscious, etc.

I want to set a short term goal (6 weeks out) as I am traveling in June and will see a lot of my old friends and colleagues. I'd love to look great and feel great for the trip, and then keep going. I haven't come up with a number for my 6 week goal...I'm not really sure what would be realistic. I don't want to pick a goal so unattainable that I will doom myself to failure, but I do want to be proactive. I think I'll ask for some tips on another thread. . .

Great to be here with all the supportive MediFasters.....

Hi Frankie,

Welcome back!

Maybe instead of picking a number for your goal, you could just commit to be compliant for 6 weeks and let the numbers fall where they may.

Journalling is fun. I hope you like it as much as I do.

Awww, Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!

Jo, you make a great suggestion of focusing on being compliant rather than trying to get to a magic number on the scale. :D Because with compliance comes lower numbers on the scale, right?? It's not brain surgery. I know it works, so I'm going to do my best.

And I'm gonna chug that water, too!! That always helps me a lot.

Sunday, May 6, 2007 - My "New Start" Day

Mini Goal:

Total Compliance, Just for Today.

I will space my meals out, eat 5 supplements and 1 Lean and Green, and Drink 90 ounces of water (# of ounces equal to half my weight, this was suggested to me previously I think by Mike).

This will be my Mini Goal for Today because:

1. In the past, I have felt overwhelmed by how much I have to lose;

2. I have also gotten discouraged by how long I would have to stay on plan to get to my goal (which makes no sense because I feel great following the MF plan);

3. I have typically NOT eaten all my supplements....leading to the Overly Hungries, leading to . . . well, you know!

4. I sometimes wait too long between supplements, leading to being too hungry and therefore eating anything and going off plan;

5. I sometimes forget to drink my water.

So just staying 100% compliant will be a great success and put me on a good path for tomorrow. :)

Sounds like a great plan. When I started out I was guilty of the intentional supplement skipping too which made me ravenous and eating cereal, sammiches or demanding a bar at 3am and falling asleep with it in my hand and yelling at my husband when he tried to remove it. Crazy stuff...

Thanks, Everyone : )

Sojourner, how cool is that about the B-days! A pretty small group for so many on the same day.

That big 4-0 is a big motivator for me!

Biki, I'm serious about getting a strategy to my previous "skipping supplements" problem because I would do great for a few days then have one of those I-could-not-get-to-my-MF-for-oh-say-5-hours or so and I'd be hitting the drive through like I never even heard of MF! I must order some bars or the RTDs so I can avoid that sandtrap.

I think I read you can freeze the RTDS or the regular shake and then if you drink it 3 or 4 hours later it will still be cold enough....I'll have to do an experiment!

Day One - 5/6/07

Yay! I stayed 100% Compliant (thanks for the suggestion, Jo! Why do we always want to tweak a plan that works anyway??)

Well, here's what I did:

9:00 Strawberry Shake
12:20 Chocolate Shake
2:10 Peach Ice Tea
4:30 Banana Shake
7:00 Lean & Green: 2 cups green salad w/ tiny bit of red pepper and 2 grilled chicken drumsticks
9:30 Chocolate Pudding - yum!

Also chugged 14 cups of water (man, I have to pee).

I have to say this is the first time I ever had all 5 supplements and my L&G. I've only been able to get in 4 supplements in the past, but this worked out well today. When I started to get hungry, I had another supplement. I'll be up earlier tomorrow for work so will have to space the meals out better (closer to 3 hours each).

And: no headache!

Looking forward to Day 2 :-P
