First Day of MAJOR TEMPTATION

Postby QT2Lose45 » October 16th, 2006, 3:40 pm

Alright, I'm proud to announce that today was my first 'official' day on my business trip (yesterday was travel, easy to stay on program) and i've battled my temptations ALL DAY.

Lets start with breakfast, while everyone else was eating eggs and bacon, I sipped on my banana creme shake :D even when the waiter kept trying to get me to order! Then lunch rolled around, (i had a bar in between) and we go to a 'food court' :x oooooooo the temptation, fresh pizza, french fries, tacos, etc.... i swear everything on everyone's trays looked so good, as if they were calling me! i managed to have a super lg ice water, a coffee w/ sf flavor and splenda, and knew that there was a nice choco shake waiting in the car... :D so i made it through... then this afternoon i had a chkn noodle soup and more wonderful H2O..... so dinner is coming up, but the people i'm going with are 'watching what they eat' also, so i'm thinking a seafood or steak joint.... where i can get my protein grilled and my veggies or a nice salad. I can't wait ha ha :-P and of course, my pudding will be chillin' in the fridge for my return this evening..... :D

SO i made it! Yesterday, before i left home, it was the start of day 6 on MF and i was already down 8 #.... tomorrow is one week, but won't be able to weigh in.

Trying to stay strong for the week!! wish me luck!

THanks Dede and Lauradr....

Dinner was tough... i think i ate a little more than i should've... but i did try! I ordered a salad w/ no cheese and lite dressin on the side, but it had a bunch of croutons, which i picked out. I didn't eat it all, cuz i knew veggies were coming with my meal, which i asked for w/out butter. I ordered the 6oz sirloin(before cooked, so i figured after would be about 3 1/2-4 oz cooked) and 5 grilled shrimp (they weren't huge, but not small, maybe 2 bites each). The shrimp came with a 'side' of melted butter, which i didnt use, but i think there was some butter already on the shrimp :( i downed about 3 huge glasses of ice water.... i was very satisfied and full, and hope i didn't mess my MF plan up! :? i think i went over my veggie limit by about 1/4-1/3 cup and over my meat about 1-2 oz..... Someone PLEASE let me know if this is 'detrimental' to my progress

Thanks!

You should be fine. It's never going to be perfect at a restaurant, but you do the best you can. And if you're over going to go over, it's MUCH better to go over on protein and fat like that, rather than having extra carbs (that little bit of veggies won't matter). This way you stay in ketosis, avoid cravings, and can stay on track.

You did great!

I don't think it will completely hurt you or throw you out of ketosis. If you ate bread, lots of croutons, etc yes but I don't think extra veggies and meat will hurt that bad.

The experts will chime in soon, they will know more!

Only carbs can throw you out of ketosis. No amount of protein or fat will do it, which is why people on Atkins are much deeper in ketosis than Medifasters.

You can 12 pounds of steak and bacon (I wouldn't recommend it) and you'd still be in ketosis, as long as you stayed away from carbs.

Great job on resisting the temptations of the food court and eating out.

The little extra protein and fat won't hurt you. I've traveled and eaten out several times in the past 7 months, and I've still lost 70 pounds. Just try to stay close to the plan, but don't overly stress if you're not exactly perfect when you eat out.

Hmmmm,
Give yourself a big pat on the back. You are doing GREAT!!! You haven't been on program that long and you already made it thru the "food court" hurdle. You'll make it... just keep on shakin'
