Exercising again?

Fitness and Exercise

Postby DonicaB » May 4th, 2005, 9:13 am

Yeah Dean ~~ I had a little trouble with the Pilates when I first started too. Ms. Winsor states that all of her workouts begin with the pilates 100. I guess I misunderstood her. I thought that meant that I could eat 100 pies and drink 100 lattes. I too gained weight.

Then I realized she was talking about breathing in and out through the nose. Boy was it hard to eat that pie with my mouth closed, and drinking through the nose is a little disgusting too. :puke:

haha Donica........TOO FUNNY! I can see that we have similar senses of humor. I like that.........You are right......drinking through the nose is not only disgusting.......it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE when you have a cold. Not only that, but after a while it gets you confused. Why, just the other day, I was getting ready in the morning and after shaving.........I brushed my nose and nearly died from the Listerine I poured in my nostrils. Following that I blew my mouth.

On a serious note.....(oh.......you are capable of a SERIOUS note?).......Pilates is a great exercise routine, for both men and women. It not only tones up the muscles, but it is a great stretching type exercise program. Lots of people work their muscles then go out for a weekend volleyball game at the family cookout and pull a hamstring. Why? Because they haven't been stretching and getting limber as well as strong.

I have been doing a TON of sit ups. I am becoming addicted to them. I do 30-50 at a time and lately have been doing these sets three or four times a day. Sometimes Heidi and I are watching TV and I will just get the urge........and plop down on the family room floor and go to it. I used to do crunches mostly, but (although I have no evidence to back this up) I feel I work the stomach muscles better with old fashioned sit ups and leg raises. Ya gotta have stomach muscles to hold your belly in flat........even if you don't have flab in your gut.......without stomach muscles and good posture, it just won't look right when you stand up.

Happy Pilates!!

(Please read with an English accent) Actually Dean, I am capable of a serious note, now whether it is in chune (tune) is another question as sometimes I get a little pitchy. HA!

Seriously though, ( I mean it, seriously)........ my sister-in-law has always had a bit of a belly and she did pilates for 3 months (and still does them) and I could not believe the difference. It really works if you use it consistently. I guess anything would work if you do it consistently.

So are you saying I need to work my stomach muscles so I can hold in my FAT stomach? Darn...... I guess I was confused again!! (surprise, surprise )........... because I thought I was working them to get rid of the FAT stomach. Darn.....Darn..... :x

Donica........I was referring to myself regarding the capability of being serious. I wrote that as if you were thinking it as you read my post.

Yep, ya have to get those stomach muscles in shape.........they will help ya have good posture as well as flattening the gut area.......fat or no fat.

Gee........I just noticed that without the "L"......flattening becomes FATTENING!!

Oops, I think I might be slightly dyslexic (sp?). I read "Oh....... are you capable of a serious note?"

I will have you know it took me an hour to come up with that Simon Cowell type response........and it wasn't even a question? Talk about a joke flopping. Oh well, I made myself laugh. I always say if others won't laugh with you, you can always laugh at yourself. But, then again I may not be normal because I think I crack myself up a little too much. :scratchhead:

I guess I need to do like I tell my students......SLOW DOWN and read the directions. Teachers are terrible students ya know. I will try harder to SLOW DOWN and read carefully next time.

Donna~~ excellent catch, my friend. I am so proud of you for getting Dean on that one. I nearly fell out of my chair laughing when I read your post. :roflmao:

Donica......Your post was funny anyhow.......I can see how you thought I was referring to you and not me........never apologize for a joke that you THINK went wrong....... Heck, I would do nothing but apologize if that was the case.

Yep, that was a good catch Donna made........I can't believe I left an opening like that......that was way funnier than I ever was. Donna, you, Christi, Rae and D.....among others are really giving me some comedic competiton lately. Of course Nancy is always very witty as well. Keep it up!! I love it!

You mentioned dyslexia.........Did you hear about the dyslexic agnostic?

He lays in bed each night contemplating whether or not there truly is a DOG!!!

Until next time,
