Questions/Comments about Weight loss Products.

Well I am late chiming in here but let me tell you....When I first started this program I had EVERY intention of eating Lasagna on my birthday which is in early May. Not a MF or healthy version of lasagna but my lasagna loaded with fat and pasta! Well I can tell you that after a little over a month on program I decided it would not be worth it. I will have many more birthdays to come but I know that for the first time in my life I am losing weight and it feels 100% better than any lasagna could ever taste. Yes I could eat it and get right back on program but what if that one MEAL off lead to another and then another...before long I would be right back where I started. I know that there are times in life when nessicity dictates that we must alter our diet but why make a conscience decision to go off. It just makes no sense what so ever to me!

I hope you take this not as a scolding but just my own thoughts on this subject.

Love you all

On the other hand, I HAVE cheated on occasion. Going for weeks on end being 100 percent complaint and not losing an ounce can get frustrating. I am NOT recommending this to anyone else, but in every case when I had an off-plan meal, I got right back on plan with a shake three hours later AND it broke my stall.

Again, I'm not advising this strategy. For one thing, very few people here stall for as long as I do or as often as I do. Second, it takes a lot of discipline to get right back on the plan and stick to it. But in my case, I think my body adapts to dietary changes far too easily and needs to be jolted out of its patterns periodically. So a small cheat meal (usually involving extra fat and calories but rarely carbs) every month or so is pretty much a part of my plan at this point. If it weren't, I really believe it's likely that I'd have stalled for even longer and probably given up by now.

Let the stone-throwing begin!!! ;)

There are restaurants and bars in every single casino in Las Vegas, so it would be extremely easy to get hot water. :)

Ascicles you aren't married? If you are you could have your wife carry your stuff. If not, you can just get a small duffel bag and carry it with you. They allowed me to carry my purse everywhere in Vegas, they will let you carry your small duffel bag. And ya, I even sat at the blackjack tables with my purse and Coke ON the table. (Course the table was mostly empty though.) :) You don't have to set it on the tables though, just set it on the footbar or something.

I love Vegas.. can't wait to go back. Only thing bad is walking down the street there, you get accosted by people with little flyers and cards of erm.. not-so-chaste women if you know what I mean. So annoying.

Ha. Thanks, Vicky. Thing is, I wish that stuff WOULD make my tummy miserable. It never does, though. I've always had a cast-iron stomach, and I apparently still do.

I figure whatever works for you and gets you to goal.

Why not? My sister and I spent 7 days gallavanting about Vegas (into some rather hoity-toity casinos, I might add), and I carried a backpack the entire time. After the $5 bottle of water (TINY little thing it was, too!) we bought on the first day, I carried water with us most of the time. It was also a great place to keep the souveniers we purchased. And it held our cameras.

Di, if you read this, help me out . . . I think maybe they didn't let us take it into the Impressionism display at the Bellagio? But that was the only place that I can think of, and they kept it behind the counter for me until we were done. Nowhere else did I encounter any problems at all taking my backpack with me. If there's some rule about that, well, no one kicked us out, and we were around plenty of security people!

Vegas is great. You'll have a blast. But be careful at the buffets. The one at the Aladdin is particularly dangerous.

Edit to add: When sitting down somewhere public, I would usually wrap one of the straps around my leg/foot, so I knew it was attached to me. That way, my hands were free to, well, free to do whatever (I wouldn't have been pulling any handles or anything, no way, nuh uh, not me . . . ), but my backpack was secure. Just a thought.

I have been to Vegas many many times. If you are going to go on vacation somewhere and stick to MF..you picked the best place. Vegas has no rules! When I'm there with friends, there is not a place we go that doesn't let you have beer and smokes in your hand. There not gonna be picky about a little ice chest, trust me. I have wheeled one everywhere there with beer in it. Just substitute with MF meals.

My experience is all in the past, of course. No more. :)

The "Success in a Shaker Jar" book gives some good advice when faced with a meal that you do not think you will be able to get through. Allow yourself to choose 3 items that you desperately want to have and spoon yourself a one tablespoon serving of each item.

She suggests that the small amount will help to get you through the temptation and still keep you compliant. I have used this advice previously while on the program through holiday or family dinners. No adverse effects of gastro problems or falling out of ketosis.

This is a good idea. I was worried about how I was going to live without my aunts world-famous corn pudding!

Sheesh when we're in Vegas we have so much fun we rarely eat. It's the strawberry margarita's and slushies I'd have a problem with. Vegas is so fun your gonna have a blast. Did you know there is a Gilley's inside The new frontier? It is so fun, if you like to dance and like country music.

I think you can do this!! I do this when the boys have all day baseball and no mixer in sight, Get some bottled water and add raspberry ice tea, peach ice tea, cappacino or even whatever shake you want. Drink about half the water add your shake mix and :coolnana: shake it up baby now... shake it baby, twist and shout ... ok getting off topic. Also pack a few extra bars, 2 bars a day would be better than 2 extra meals. I personally would stay away from buffet's too easy to try to get your moneys worth. Gonzales Y Gonzales at the new york new york is sooo yummy you could get fajita's and some vegies and not eat the tortilla's or chips of course!!

Personally don't think it would be worth it to go off.... You don't want intestinal issues when your walking down the strip 3 miles from your hotel :uhuh:

Gilley's.. is that the bar with a big old mechanical bull in it? When I was there once they were having a bikini bull-riding contest on it... LOL. It was really cool in there though :)

Hi

Postby dede4wd » April 1st, 2006, 5:55 pm

Hi Gillian,

I'm WAY late to this one...but...here goes!

Lauren and Vicki said everything I would've said. It's just a matter of a choice. I choose to do this MF plan, even on holidays, even on family gatherings.

I enjoy spending the time with my family and friends, but NOTHING is going to derail me from being thin, happy and healthier. I also wouldn't wish the first 3 days on ANYONE and I sure don't want to do it again. I just DECIDED to stick to the program. I know you know the chocolate and treats will be there, after hearing about your profession, I'm SO proud of you, chocolate fountain (fodder for tonight's Russell Crowe dream, but I digress)...Make a choice, think about the first three days and decide if it's worth it. If you're asking for your permission, I don't give that, I can only make decisions for me and my body. Were I walking in your shoes, would I do it? NO.

Ascicles, I have some knowledge in this department. Considering I travel 260+ days per year, and have only been home for 2 1/2 days of my Medifast journey, I know a bit about doing MF on the road and in hotels!

I have one of those little Playmate cooler backpacks. It's lined and I put one of those little things you freeze overnight to keep it cold. I put my RTD's, my bars, a 1/2 full water bottle to mix my cold drinks (fruit punch, iced tea etc) and now that I found a teeny little tupperware-type containers, I bring my nanner pudding too! I actually have sat at the slot machine pushing the button with one hand and an RTD in the other. It is also a choice, if you decide to stay on the plan you can. I've been to the buffet and I get the steamed or grilled fish or chicken and make a great salad. I am very happy that I have stuck to my commitment and wish all of you the best no matter what your choice.

Please don't take my comments as militant, preachy or rude, I answer all questions as if I were walking in your shoes. I hope ANY of this helped!

DeDe

I'm way late chiming in, too, but I've just gotta ditto Lauren and Vicki. Haven't you all noticed that those who are struggling with Medifast are those who have little cheats here and there? (I know, there are a few exceptions), but if you study the posts of those who just ate one meal, or just went off for their birthday, or just wanted to eat Aunt Martha's apple pie, insert excuse here, etc. etc.....lots and lots of those people just kinda disappear from the forum. And gone from the forum many times means gone from MF. For me, it's just not worth it.

I'm going to FL for 5 days in April, Chicago in early June, and on a 10 day cruise for my anniversary in late June. I plan to stay on program for all of those trips. I am so determined to complete my mission and maintain my weight that I will not let any ole chocolate bunny or cruise buffet get in my way. Will it ruin my trips????? NOT! I'm not going for the food, I'm going for the fun and sun and shopping and site seeing. Food is not my focus anymore.

Ok, sorry if I sound preachy, I don't mean to, and I know this program is different for each individual, so take what you can use and pitch the rest.

Oh yeah, and asticles, you could carry your supplements in a plastic grocery bag or shopping bag.

love to all,
jo
