my early birthday present

Postby mamabear » May 17th, 2006, 10:57 am

Ok, so my birthday is coming up(May 27th) and I gave myself an early present - I joined a gym!! I am wicked excited to get started and what is really good is that they do babysitting so my son will finally be able to spend some time with other kids! He has never been to day care or even with a sitter that wasn't a grandparent! He went into the playroom while I took a tour of the gym today and had no problem with me leaving and when I went back to get him he didn't want to leave. I am very lucky that he is so easy going! I have my official orientation with a trainer on Monday but that won't stop me from being there tomorrow and Friday too!

I know this will give my body the extra push it needs and I can feel good that I am going to get toned while I lose the weight!! :yay: Did I mention that I am very excited?! :whoohoo:

Yep...you're from the Northeast!

Congrat's on joining the gym! I am looking for a place that I can play racquetball regularly.

What a great gift to yourself. I once belonged to Ballys, they have been sending me stuff to start again for really cheap. I might have to do it, they too have child care.

You are doing so great with the program.

Hi

That's a GREAT early b-day present! Plus, it sounds like it's fun for your kidlet too!

They say if you do something for 18 days, it's a habit, so all you have to do is get to the gym for ANY reason for 18 days and you'll be golden, right?

I did something silly last night. I stayed up WAY too late and ordered another fitnessdoohickey thingee off the TV. They sure can see me coming! I'm so glad I'll have YET something else to pile clothes on, when will I realize that I like to walk, I like to ride my bike and I like to walk my dogs, that's all the exercise I'm really going to do. REALLY, DeDe, no more TV for you!

Good for you! I just went this morning to a "Sweatshop" class and it kicked my butt . . . I have been going sporadically for the last 6 weeks and I have really gotten out of shape! I do love to go though - plan is to go to pilates tommorrow and give myself a break (and my 3-baby abs a workout)!

My husband gave me a gym membership for Christmas - they have great childcare too and my kids LOVE to go (well not the 1 year old but the 3 and 5 year old think it is great - better than Chuck E Cheese!)

My husband joined too and he goes after an early dinner sometimes and takes the big boys to the gym with him which is GREAT! I pop the baby in bed at 7 and they are usually not home until a little after 8 or so - one hour of peace!

Right about the habit though - I got out of the habit and have got to get back IN!

mommaof3boys--:whoohoo: My son is 2 and he loves going to the gym! And I do too now! It is very addictive. I also have to admit that I really enjoy my nice long hot showers after working out-I don't have to worry about my son because I know someone is watching him-I am sure you know what that is like! I also like knowing that he is finally spending time with other kids, so that keeps me going back too!

It's fine to do a mixture of both, but don't do anything really strenuous, 900 calories a day isn't very much energy to spare... Your body will go into starvation mode and you won't lose anything if you overdo it.

Gotta wait on the exercising for about 3 weeks or so, then your body will be somewhat used to the diet and it won't exhaust you to exercise. :)

MommaBear - LOVE the shower with no kids too (beats showers with 3 sets of eyes staring at you through the glass door any day!) :)
